old school racing

hi all was wondering if any one els would be up for doing a old school race with cars before 1990 like the tamiya avante and all the ether makes around that time :)

cryer-evo 12-02-2013 08:24 AM

Right then peaple who has the old tamiya hornet / grass hopper and any other car that runs on that chassis .
As would like to get a old school race running

rules would be
Stock car
Stock tyres
Stock silver can
Stock esc electronic

Up grads aloud

Ball bearings
Servo
Lipo stick pack
And that is it

If any one is up for it put your name on here

Hi guys,

If this took off then we would change the track layout for vintage nights. i.e remove the cross over lol.

That sounds like a plan rob my be just make it into 2 rollers so can go both ways on it I will ring ya rob sort something out lets being the fun back to Rc

Does a Losi 22 count as vintage :p
This could be a giggle and a good excuse to buy me Tamiya Wild one!!

Might be a reason to get my Hotshot off the shelf. But we wouldnt be able to have any big jumps , otherwise the marshall at the other side would have to have carrier bags with him to collect the parts:D

cryer-evo 12-02-2013 03:22 PM

Lets do it peaple lets get the tamiya cars out to play

colsey2009 13-02-2013 09:22 AM

Would 1991 count as cheating ? And can a mechanical esc be up graded as if a mech one jams there is no stopping it !

We've been running a vintage series at Caldicot for a few years now as a winter distraction from the main classes...

I ran my Tamiya Thundershot twice in the very first series we did, bit it just kept disintegrating, so I retired it permanently!

We use a minimum age rule for the chassis, but then leave the rest of the rules open, so any electrics basically...lipo's burn out the old school electrics way to quickly so it seems to work better that way.

And it does mean that often the quickest vintage time of the night is practically on the pace of the modern cars...in the hands of our top guys at least :woot:

The vintage racers do love it though...they always come off the rostrum smiling :D

I was thinking one make racing like tamiya hornet/grass hopper Cus they are cheep and there is lots of them about fun car to drive and ralatively strong if left with stock motor I won't to keep it fun for every one and on the same playing fild don't wont it to get to serious well that's the plan :woot:

cryer-evo 13-02-2013 10:31 AM

And yes if any other make of car turn up we are not going to turn you away so long as its a old school car you can race

MonGwah 13-02-2013 11:03 AM

i've got a couple of friends (who've never raced) who could be persuaded to get involved with this

colsey2009 13-02-2013 11:15 AM

Beat them around the head and drag them down !! :)
It will be good to see the older tamiya's coming out might
Last a bit longer than the 22's and 210's !!

cryer-evo 13-02-2013 11:15 AM

Spread the word mate

Freakypen 13-02-2013 03:37 PM

I'd be up for this- just have to decide which car. Would love to get the hornet on the crossover so don't change it lol!

cryer-evo 13-02-2013 05:03 PM

We are going to make it into a table top with a see through top so can still see the cars going under I got Rachel's jun hornet to jump it was fine but she needs lipo power to make it a bit eser
