Front tyres for 2wd buggy
 

Evening all.

I'm in dire need of more steering with my ansmann x2. i ve adjusted roll centres and shock location to loosen the rear but the rear motor buggy's back end is just too planted for front cut staggers.

I want to try out some mini pins on the front, should i be buying the slim or standard mini pins for mounting on team c front rims? and which insert?

Slim with a medium insert

You might need to cut the outer and / or inner row of pins off though or it might dig in on the corners.

I've tried mini pins on my tc02c and got a fast individual lap with them, but it was too hard to drive for 5 mins with them on

Do the team c front rims need modifying for slim mini pins or do you just stretch them over?

You can either fit them straight onto the full width of the wheel, or cut the inner bead off the wheel to make it a super slim. I've cut mine down, but would like to try it full width too

Maybe its not the fact you need more steering ??

Maybe you are cornering too fast and this is causing understeer and could be seen as not enough steering

Thanks for the advice Jason but it really is a case of a lack of steering.

It's a rear motor buggy with a heavy 380 finned motor out back. It has way too much rear traction.The stock setup pushed really badly. I fully lowered the front roll centre and progressively raised the rear and saw incremental improvements to the point when front and rear roll centres are extreme opposites, and that is affecting cornering consistency. Ican't raise the rear roll centre any further so something else has to be done. Add grip to the front or remove from the rear.

I'm hoping grippier front tyres will allow me to run with more sensible front and rear roll centres. The only other option I can think of is a rear anti roll bar but they aren't made for this buggy.

What front tyres do you run on your dex210?

Have you got plenty of weight around the servo? You can also get ally upgrade parts for the front with removable brass weight.

I've got the brass weight arm holder, 30g in front bulkhead and 10g either side of servo.

I run yellow cut staggers on my 210 but that is mid motor.

I have also run yellow pigs on front but normaly dremmel off the first outer row.

The thing is you will always struggle with a rear entry against the mid motors on high/medium grip tracks.

Rear motor cars are run nowadays on low grip or dirt generally.

Paul Mason changed recently from rear to mid for this exact reason

I'm going to try the yellow mini pins on the front, reset the camber links to stock and see how it goes.

I used to use slim, yellow, mini pins, on the front of my old rear motor B4. I couldn't get any anything else to provide enough front end grip. I personally found the car handled better with worn yellow mini pins on the back and new ones on the front. That got the car to pivot well around the corners. I also found softer front springs worked better on a rear motor car on carpet.

What springs and oils are you using?
Going slightly softer or thinner oil in the front will give more steering.

Front team c purple (soft), out on arm, in on tower, 40w

Rear team c blue (hard), out on arm, middle on tower, 30w

Thanks for the reply Paul, you've confirmed my thoughts. Rotation is none existent with the cut staggers. Did you cut off any rows of pins?

Maybe you will need more weight up front as well I know you have said you have some already but maybe try bit more....:-)

The poorango's are running 65g up front as brass bulk head when in rear motor and also a crab forwards shell.

I know yours is annesmann but I would think it would still need a lot weight up front to counter balance the motor out back.
