A little question about wheels & tyres?

Hi All,

I've recently decided to get back into RC racing after remembering how much fun I had in my late teens bashing around with my mate's Dad's cars so bought a new buggy to do some club racing this year, before trying my hand at Regionals and maybe Nationals once I've gained some valuable experience.

One of the key areas seems to be tyres, especially gluing and truing them, so I was wondering what most people prefer to use or recommended :-

1. Buying tyres, wheels and inserts and self assembling
2. Buying tyres, wheels and inserts in pre-glued form
3. Using pre-glued for club and self assembly for competition.

If you prefer self assembly, what is the benefit, especially if you do this mainly for competition?

Thanks in advance for your help :D

P.S. The Frog Prince Racing is due to a joke from my girlfriend about my tattoo so the racing team comprises solely of me so far lol

Be aware that not all buggy's use the same wheel fitment. Pre-glued wheel tyre combo's are (as far as my limited knowledge stretches) only readily available from Schumacher, and therefore will only have limited fitment.

Self assembling the tyres and rims allows you to get the perfect combination of tyre compound and insert ridgedness also not many competition tyres come preglued, some do but they only fit certain cars, there's no point in balancing and trueing off road tyres and glueing and assembling tyres takes seconds anyway

Having looked around at different online stores too, the pre-glued/assembled option is really only if you have a certain fitment type, although there are aftermarket options to convert your buggy to this fitmant if you want.

Most people so far seem to be saying that they self-assemble anyway, I guess for the customisation and set-up tweeks that can be made by sourcing different combinations of wheel, insert and tyre.

As always, all feedback is really appreciated, so thanks for all the information so far.
