Which Phone ?

Im looking for an upgrade for my phone, want something that will handle emails and a decent browser, preferably will run windows, decent camera (and video), wifi, bluetooth, oh yeah and that makes calls and texts..

Maybe an iphone3g but a lot of people say the iphone is pants, possibly an htc or blackberry or even an n95..

Any thoughts and experience whats good and whats pants?

Thanks :)

I've got an Iphone and think its fine, web broswer is very good, and obivously all your itunes songs/programmes play on it too!

Plus those of us lucky to buy the Iphone when I did are being offered a free upgrade to the new 3G one, which will hopefully make it quicker when wifi isn't available!

Downsides: Not many except the cam is crap! Call centres tend to not be able to hear you on it very clearly either for some reason!?

Have heard the Viewty is even better though by the way!

ive got an n95 8gb,
i dont think you would be dissapointed if you went for this phone,
personally the iphone is abit overhyped,

I use a HP IPAQ 614C

Does all above with the advantage of having a built in GPS receiver, only drawback is the battery life is not great.

DO have to admit with the iphone, one of the main pluses for me was I had itunes and needed a new Ipod, so this covered that too! If you use other than itunes, not sure it'd be as useful!

I'm waiting for the 3G iPhone, I'm not bothered about video or a camera which are it's weak points.

Have a look at the HTC Touch Diamond, not sure if it's out yet but it looks pretty snazzy :)

The only downside to the N95 is the battery life, i can only get mine to last 2 days before having to charge it. Other than that i have found it to be really good, definetly very easy and quick to use.

The N96 is coming out soon, not sure what the differences are to the N95.

My wifes nokia n95 is superb . Its got every thing you need for a phone.
As for battery life its not an issue with her as she reguarily charges it.

The camera on its as good as out regular digi camera. Its a great phone albeit web n walk isnt used much on it.

The sounds not bad , although the sound on my Sony walman w880i is better .

I played with an IPhone and texting is ok but no chance if your drunk. The features look cool but a lot of people i know said it loses its gimmicyness after a while and becomes a pain.

the HTC Tytn II is pretty much the dogs danglies for windows based smartphones. also known as the T mobile MDA vario 3, or O2 XDA stellar.

I have heard good things about the N95, the HP (as previously mentioned) but the best one rated on the gadget show was the blackberry (can't remember the exact model, sorry.)

I would go with the N95 myself, I love Nokias, and they always pretty reliable now too!

Had a Blackberry for a couple of years, not too impressed with the operating system. Although it may be better now it put me off, thats why I went for the iPAQ.

super__dan 15-06-2008 07:44 PM

Mark, after the numerous N70's I had I can't agree they are reliable, all were also dog slow hence the reason I've gone to Sony.

MattW 15-06-2008 07:50 PM

I think early N series/Symbian software was fairly poor!! You're not the only one Dan.

I now have an N81 - most of features of N95, but not quite all. It's been fine, n osoftware issues, works, and quick enough.

Wait for the Touch Diamond(out in July i think) Or even the new Blackberry 9000 Bold, 3g Good camera and looks good. May even be able to do you a good deal on Vodafone!
