Orion R10 (1-2s)

Having a problem with getting a program card to talk to my 1s speedo, it works fine when connected to the pc, just not on it's own.

The program cards work fine on a 2-3 speedo, so I know they are good. Quick test connected to a speedo, no motor connected or rear sensor cable, just power and sensor cable at front.

With the 1s I have it connected to a Vortex 13.5, but get just a black screen on both program cards. Tried it on a 2s pack, still the same. Tried disconnecting the sensor cable, still the same.

Any ideas, has anyone got a R10 1s and successfully connected the program card when using 3.7v lipo.

Are you using the link cable (prog box to esc) that come with the 1-2s esc? I had this problem also, when I used the cable that come with the 2-3s it wouldn't work. As soon as I used the cable that come with the 1-2s it worked fine.

If you look around the sensor cable end of link cable of the 1-2s you will notice they is some electrical bits sticking out under the heat shrink. This is the only difference I can see ,it seems to work with the correct cable anyhow.

That solved that problem, thought all the cables were the same. Very small bump under the heatshrink so obviously they have added some components. Thanks for your help solving that problem.

Just the last problem to solve now, I get throttle when moving the steering. I checked with Futaba UK and they calculated my 9550 servo draws about 1.5A when on stall, well within the 2A the speedo can supply. Need to try adding capacitors to Rx and power wires, plus insulating the speedo from chassis better. The problem doesn't happen a lot, but will happen a few times in a race, also happens when car is held off the ground.

Be sure that the metallic bits on the connectors are not touching each other when plugged on the receiver.

Checked the cables, they are all good. I've tried a micro servo and no issue so it's obviously to do with the current drawn by the servo, and the BEC not able to cleanly supply it. I'll continue to do some testing, just strange how two speed controllers with BEC rated at 2A can work or not.
