Engine problem

Hello peeps I am dipping my toe into the hot tub that is 1/8th nitro. I have purchased a hobao hyper 7 PBS from a freind for a steal at £50 with everything with it, I know its not one of the modern buggys but it will get me into it.
Now the car hasnt turned a wheel for years I tried to start it yesterday the engine turns over but nothing happened its as if there is no fuel getting in. I had a look to see if I had flooded it taking the glow plug out and turning the engine over to get rid of the fuel (Ihave primed it by blowing down the fuel pipe). Tried to start it again and it fired up but at full chat for only a few seconds and died its not started since all servos are the right way round.
The glow plug is new and the glow start is working I am using some fuel that I had sitting around in an old ready to run nitro car could it be this. I have since cleaned out the carb and re set the motor to factory settings and I will get some decent nitro fuel for it. Anybody any ideas cheers Spen. Oh the engine is a hyper .21 8 port.

make sure theres no hole in the tubing that pressurizes the tank from exhaust try turning it over and covering the end of the exhaust this should prime the carb with fuel, if the fuel has been around for a while i would ditch it get new

Check the carb shuts fully and that the throttle gap is not to wide for idle. Have a look at all the exhaust gaskets in case they are perished and not leaking as it will affect the way the engine gets its fuel pressure.

also check the head screws are tight, hpers lose the screws and it can cause air leaks.

Hi Spencer,

Get yourself to the club at Blackpool this Sunday, 25th.

Have a look on the forum at www.prcc.co.uk I think Matt Coleman's coming having his first outing with us this Sunday, you should come too.

Before you get tuning, how old was the fuel? I've always been told it will deteriorate once opened,if you tune it with 12month old+ fuel, then buy some new stuff you will have to tune again

Hi Spencer, Yes it's me.

We've played at touring car, 2wd, 4wd, 12th, a bit of mardave and now 8th.

I'd suggest you come to one of your local clubs, PRCC, for your first meeting. You'll need to expect some teething issues and we can help you with these, that and we always have a good crack, I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

Get on the PRCC website, there are some vouchers to race for a fiver. Get them printed and get yourself over on Sunday.
