Soldering Iron
Hi my good soldering iron went up the creak a couple of weeks ago. so i was left with my dads old trigger soldering iron that was ok for the odd motor and bits. But know i had 2 v2's and cant solder them up because the soldering iron is not power full enought. So i need a new one the two i was thinking about where the trickbits 12v yellow one And the MRT 12v one. Ive seen a Trickbits one working and seems very good but not sure if the MRT one is any better. Any recomendations on Good 12v soldering Irons????

Is there anything similar to the spec in 240v ? I need one with a decent tip.. mine has lasted about 5mins..
the best 240 ones imho are the weller W range Magnastat irons i've got the 100W model which is great for batts and motors alike you just need a couple of different tips. They are about £60 but mine has lasted 8 yrs its just needed a couple of new tips so far.

From what I understand though, with the SPEC racing iron, the soldering tip outlasts the handle.....
do what everyone else does and scrap the plastic handle and make a new one out of a piece of old woodern broom handle with a great big hole drilled down the center
Or be like me, have an original WASP iron..... 20 years old and still going strong
Mines prob 10+ years old and still fine. Spec i believe, you heavy handed people! :D

Saying that, I got one of them collapsable picnic tables with the four seats, that has got to be 15 years old and still going strong (might have something to do with a £100 worth of aircraft fasteners that found it's way onto there.....)
