Brass Flywheel?
 

Just got a second hand X6, only ran it once so far at Kidderminster and loved it so much easier than my old B4. It has a brass flywheel fitted and my question is why? Should I leave it on or remove it. I did not see any other cars running one including other X6's. Just wondered if anyone has ran one before and what is their experience of it, does it help or am I better removing it? Thanks

there are some threads on here about it i believe,it originally comes with a drill bit to lighten it if you require this (the flywheel is marked around the edge where to drill),also check the X Factory website,loads of tips on there..:thumbsup:

Thanks for the replies. I found the post now dont know how I missed it earlier. Some interesting reading, just going to try it myself with it on then off to feel the difference.

Just my advice but I tried one on a X6 at kiddy - and found that is was better on slippy surfaces allowed me to get the power down better but in the dry found it worse as when you slam the brakes on it tends to run on. So all in all it a useful addition but all depends on the surface and conditions.

I'll try to put Jamie's answer in different words: The brass weight is a tuning option. On some tracks, some surfaces, some lay-outs it works great. Not so much on others. Driving style also figures into this.

It's something to try on several tracks until you get to know it. Then, it can be perfect in some places and you'll be glad you've got it.
