Colour coding clear shock oils
 

Hi everyone,

I recently switched from Tamiya's cst oils to RC Core's cst oils for my shocks.

I haven't yet tested the oils, but I'm sure they'll work fine for me. There was one advantage about the Tamiya oils though that the Core RC oils don't have: Colour coding of the oil itself.

I was wondering, has anyone tried adding a tiny bit of colourant to shock oil to make it recognizable? Does it affect the oil? Does it mix together well? :eh?:

What I do is change the colour of the 2 washers I use on the shock mounting screw, using 2 washers in 6 colours I can represent far more oil grade than I actually use!

0.5mm / 1mm coloured .washers can be found cheaply enough and I believe they are far better than using numbered stickers as they can fall off.

What I do is write down any shock oil changes in the back of my pitbag notebook. I used to write the shock oil on the damper cap but it tends to either rub away, or be too hard to rub away, depending on the pen you used! Never felt that a bag full of "clear" oil has held me back.

No issue for me...

Olive oil only comes in one thickness...

LMR shock oil stickers, stick them on tower or top deck to remember what's in the shocks and they don't come off until you want them too. Come in wt/cst!
