I'm looking to buy a touring car for under £50, what's out there that also competitive for this price range, doesn't have to be massively competitive as its only for a laugh at club level

If buying new, then you can get an Ansmann ARE-2 kit. They are actually not that bad for starting out. They are also pretty strong.

You are stuffed if you want to buy anything else new for that price. Second hand there are a lot of old touring cars knocking around, unfortuantely spares can be an issue.

Tamiya TA05's are great, and you can get cheap parts. TT01's are practically indestructible and handle quite neutrally in stock form, but they are not adjustable like the TA05's

be aware the ARE-2 is pretty much discontinued.

To be honest for £100 these days getting an RTR touring car or a kit for less than £100 is nigh on impossible. You may be able to get a Maverick TC for just over the £100 mark but really you are looking at something like an Mi1 if you want to compete but in saying that you may be able to pick up an old Schumacher Mission (exactly the same car, just the older version, not the reissue) for about £30 on the bay of e or by shopping around in the 2nd hand market.

TT-01's are pretty easy to come by & as was said bulletproof, but Tamiya these days are getting silly on pricing & to spend the £200 or so on a TT-01 & all the radio gear, cheap electrics etc & whatever option parts you need (bearings for starters) to get you going, you may as well buy a superstox or a buggy & have some change in your pocket.

This 'should' be easier to get the spares for than the Reely chassis.

Personally I would look for a second hand TT01, they go for quite cheap (without electrics) and will be tough and you can get spares easily and cheaply. Its also quite acceptable with a slow motor.

If your looking just for a rolling chassis i would go for something like a second hand like an Associted TC3 or TC5, an Xray T2 or Schumacher Mi3

How about a gt12 like the mardave, it will be cheaper to run in the long run

GT12's are no cheaper than TC's to run at club level. That Spec-R is less than £100 and at club level will have no problem getting into an A-final.

Long gone are the days of TC's at club level being expensive. Yes you can blow £500 on some kit, but unless you are a pro driver you wont really have any real advantage over someone with a well maintained and set-up car and well practiced thumbs.
