As an attempt to "set a good eaxample" to the young uns and newbs I wonder if you more experienced chaps wouldn't mind driving with a little decorum.

It is evident that the corner cutting, intentional take outs and blatant loony driving is being seen to be the norm after one precious little darling, whilst watching a quick heat, was heard to say "Dad! Can you teach me how to take out other cars?" thankfully Daddy said "no" but you get my point.

Thanks old beans :) your co-operation in this matter would by simply spiffing!

might it be an idea to limit newby youngsters to a 13.5 motor until they gain experience. in years gone by the younsters starting off usually had standard motors thus limiting their speed.

What's bill-I-am gonna do when he's racing he can't manage a minute without doing either of those normally :p:thumbsup:

On a serious note tho:

I'm sure the vintage heat is probably the best to watch to set the standard whatcwith courteous driving of the old girls round the track and minimal contact to ensure they complete 5mins ;)

well said brian. purhaps you could limit cars speeds using the TH highpoints if the cost of a motor is an issue.

what about introducing a best newby/youngster award of the month for most considerate/best improved/good marshalling etc, and give something as a reward for the achievement.dangling a carrott may be better than criticism

That'd be much easier to police than restricting equipment!

As much as I completely agree that keeping newbies on slower electrics is the ideal solution, it's just a tough one to watch over...people will buy what they want...it's like introducing a new racing class...that then needs rules and someone to check the rules are being adhered to...and IMO Caldicot is not really about that kind of racing!

Giving the youngsters some sort of focus, or target is not a bad idea though...maybe the incentive is prize based...so they get something physical out of it too...I know I'd have loved winning bits of useful equipment or something...I'm sure the club could stretch to something for that...

Maybe we should also hand out some sort of worst driver of the month award for the 'veterans' too....a name and shame poster...we'd only ever have to print out 1!!! ;)

I find it hard to be nice to people at the best of times... let alone children ;)

But seriously, I think a mentoring system in conjunction with some kind of award scheme could work.

Maybe do a 'doubles' league where points between a 'Novice' and 'Expert' are combined for an overall score each month. (I appreciate this would take a little working out).

Either way- I completely understand the problem here and I'm in for helping out :)

Im sure Nuclear RC would be happy to make a regular donation for that although glues, grease, wire & acetone probably isnt going to get kids too excited :woot:

I dunno...I've heard glue has a funny effect on some people...

...not that I've ever tried it or condone it...:woot::woot:
