LIPO 6V cut off
 

I have the Novak LIPO cut off in my car for club racing. When it comes to competitions (NIMH use), I always undsolder the cutoff and take it out the car, just incase the NIMH dips below 6V during a race.

Am I being over cautious? Would I be able to leave the cutoff in the car for NIMH racing?

try it out, leave it 'on' and run some NMHI packs until it cuts-out.

chances are it will be like a snail before it cuts out, and chances are it would be after 10 or more minutes.

worth a punt, although as the race goes on, you may have some stuttering as the voltage drops under acceleration, but whether it drops to below 6V I am unsure.

Why don't you just disconnect the cut off from your receiver and speedo, then plug your speedo into the receiver instead, as if the cut off wasn't in the car any more?

This would bypass the cut off but still leave everything in place (and no soldering as a bonus!), it wouldn't matter if your batteries dropped <6V then, as although the cut off would detect it as the power feed wires are still connected, it wouldn't be able to do anything about it as it isn't connected to the receiver any more to cut the throttle.

Just an idea.
