Splatter

I have seen an increasing number of shells with cool paint splatter effects. I fancy having a go at doping this and wondered if anyone could offer me any advice in how you create this??

I'm guessing that it's not as simple as putting some paint on a brush and flinging it at the shell or am I being stupid??

Thanks in advance for your help.

It's that simple!

I have a little pot, I water the paint a little so it's runny,
For me that's key! It give you the proper splatter effect.

Then just, get your self a 1" decorating brush and go mad!

Don't try and control the splatter, random looks better!

As above.... Just chuck it! I use a fairly chunky brush and flick it on. Cracking effect for little effort ;)

You can also 'rag-roll' a kind of splatter by spraying paint onto a scrunched up freezer bag and then dab it on...that creates a cool look too...

Thanks for replies. So it really is as simple as I thought it might be (although it saounds simple I bet it's hard to get right) My next spraying adventure is for a club members shell so I might not practice on that....

Anyone done a splatter with liquid mask? You could splatter it on, spray your back colour and peel off the splatter and spray a fade across the area. That would look sweet!

i've seen that done the "right" way round, ie on 1:1 cars and it looks well!
Not sure my patience would see removing the dots of mask though.......

The other problem would be removing it, If the LM is on too thin its a arse to remove!

Although it would look cool.

Start with dark colors

When ever I create this effect I always start with the dark colors
