Effect of LIPO on car

Considering the shift in weight distribution brought about by using LIPOs, how do you feel your chassis has responded to it.

Personally speaking, I have only tried LIPO in my TRF501X. The car is very fast with NIMH, but if I had to pick one weakness, it would be that it is not as pointy in corners as other cars, despite my best efforts in playing with setups.

Having ran LIPOs in it now, I feel the change in weight distribution improves the chassis, by moving CoG forward slightly, giving the car the extra turn in, whilst retaining a very stable rear end.

I feel that a TRF501X will adapt well to running LIPOs, and just want to hear from others how their chassis responds? Could LIPOs cause some chassis to lose their competitive edge (without adding weight) and become too twitchy or un balanced??

Are you using 4800 or 3200 saddle packs? When using 3200 packs (220gr to 440gr when using Ni-MH) you really have to use weights. I'll post my experiences in a few weeks with 3200's in my TRF501X.

Chirs, I'm running the 4800 Trakpower saddle pack lipo in my TRF501. No extra weight needed, the cars is much better on our track (astroturf in Kampenhout) , more steer and cornering in much smoothers without comprimsing the rear end. On the jump the cars feels even more stabler (do not knwo why, maybe it is my improved driving style ;)) but the cars is for the moment just dialed on the Kampenhout track.

On my B4 I compensate the weight by adding extra lead underneath the lipo as the cars is more stabler (at least on high grip track like ours) when it weighs the same as with NiMh.(probably because I'm too lazy to adjust my set up.....)
On the motor part ( as I'm not a pro.. used to be :D) with the extra power I switch 1 turn down : eg 2wd now with 7.5 instead of 6.5 and 4wd with 5.5 instead of 4.5 brushless motors

Cheers

I ran my 3200 saddle in my cr i added 25 grams to the front of the car and it was truly awsome. It helped the car as the cr doesnt have much weight over the front wheels so remove the weight of the cells add a littel lead to the front of the car 15g behind the servo 10 in the bulkhead. And the car seems to pivot much better. The Car was always good over the bumps due to how light the car is it does take away a bit of the cars finece over the bumps but it doesnt take much away still very good very the bumps. I want to do a little more testing but if things stay as good as thy are now lipo will be getting my vote for next year. ALso its very good at jumping.
