which servo for a cat sx3
 
Currently run a 1251 mg savox low profile in my losi 22. What do people suggest for an sx3? Can I get away with a full size one or not? And am I betterbjob going with something that's faster or more torque?

I've seen and a few servos broken in SX3's and I broke one myself, and many of them were Savox low profile servos, so I would suggest getting something strong with all metal gears. Full size servos do fit well, but a low profile servo will give more space for the motor wires.
My Futaba has a plastic first gear even though it says it has a metal gear train, so now I use a Tamiya Hi Tourque servo saver. Apparently the Anderson servos that Schumacher sale have an all metal gear train but I have no experience with them.

the anderson servos from schuy are great, never damaged anything on it or in it ,and we tested it trust me

So with that in mind, I can't see why I would bother specifically with a low profile servo if theres enough room with a full size servo. I've only raced 2wd buggies, so do I favour torque or speed?

I've not really a clue which one, but I guess deciding on whether torque/speed is a priority is the first port of call?

i use that savox in my 4wd, it should be fine.

Have you any idea what it means if the letters TG are in the title? Titanium gears maybe???

TG should mean titanium gears, but steel gears should be just as good if not better. For the money of the Savox I would still choose the Anderson, just seen to many issues with Savox servos causing receiver brownouts etc.

Do not use a savox 1251, he is so small for 4X4

thanks for that. I do have a 1251 and was pretty tempted to use her. So we think either the anderson or a 1258? hmmmm decisions decisions.


What model anderson are you suggesting? and how much are they?

both are good Matty used the 22kg version but the other is just fine as well,both are high voltage versions which mean you can use 7.4volts making them faster and stronger

A low profile servo makes wiring this car a lot easier. You will not regret for doing this.

I personally run a KO 2143, and has lasted more than 6 races on this.

For a 4WD buggy, anything more than 120oz of torque, with a speed of 0.10 to 0.12 should suffice.
I don't use a servo saver with this either. Just a core-rc alloy servo horn. Seriously, other parts of the car will break first before your servo.

Dude any prospective servo I buy news to have an expected life duration measured in "seasons! As opposed to "races". Student loan doesn't go that far!!

It'd be ideal if I could find a low profile jobby that's man enough to do it, but then its false economy if its going to give up the ghost after a few outings. As long as everything fits in, be it a squeeze or not, with a full size servo then that's fine for me. Im effectively never going to need to touch the front end after everything's packed in am I? just need to put saddles in and out. My losi 22 on the other hand, Theres virtually no way you can use a fulL size servo. ....

in my cat with a speedpassion esc and futaba Rx and it all fits fine so don't worry about fitting a full size servo in.
Ive ran the 1256TG for about 3 years now with no problems at all

thanks. pretty sure (having also seen multiple google images of large servos fitting fine) that im going to look for either a 1256 or 1258

For me, the 1256 is not speed, you must take 1257 or 1258, and you dont need 20kg, 12 kg with 1258 is enough. Sorry for my bad english, i m french
