CR rear end

I know a few people use the cr rear end on the x5, what are peoples general thoughts about this, does it settle the rear end even more or is there very little difference to the std rear end.

I'm just about to fit the CR parts as part of the full rebuild my car needed after the last regional.
I'd be interested to see a starting set up.

Oh, if someone could say it's ace I'd be grateful, cos then I can flog Lee all the bits he needs on Saturday....:woot:

has the bubble finally burst lee?

Made my XX4 much better, rear end more predictable and rotated a bit better. My cars pretty dialled at most tracks, was awesome at Oswestry once i stopped driving like a pillock.

Fitted it to mine after Os and I felt it was a lot better, just a lot more stable entering the turns on the rear end and I now have the option to make it even more stable by having the vertical ball adjustment.

Same shock settings as with the normal rear end but outer hole on hub with the ball low (yes you do have to grind loads away for clearance), long vla and outer hole on the wishbone for the shock.

I will be running it this weekend.

ryan 29-05-2008 10:33 PM

But he's not really and F3 lol, he just never turns up to regionals!

I was going to do this but never got round to doing it. But lee i would recomend running cr rear inner hinge pins so that the rear brace doesnt flap around and it also decreases the chance of you loosing it.weather you keep the xx4 rear end or the cr one.

Didnt know you had a XX-4. I heard it's better to have the motor up front
anyhow. Good luck with your conversion.

Southwell 30-05-2008 04:26 PM

He doesn't, he has an X5, like it says on the first post :p

Oooohh! Front motor, mid-wheel drive! What a great idea! I bet it steers really well, enough to overcome the lack of rear traction. Have you got any C.A.D. to share? No doubt a super-trick lay shaft mount system...

Steve.T 02-06-2008 12:02 PM

Having just raced my X5 on a bumpy grass track, I was wondering what parts are needed to convert the car to the XXXCR rear end. My car was very nervey an meant that I could not attack as I would have liked.
The car does need rebuild though....

XXX Cr wishbones and hubs, i think thats it.

The car felt very good yesterday for me and it could have gone much quicker, i just couldnt find a quick line over the back section at tally
