bearings for 210...
My son's car seems to be going through more than it's fair share of bearings on the slipper/layshaft assembly.... 4 pairs to be precise this season. The bearings keep collapsing and falling apart leading to a wobbly layshaft and then replacement spur gear and even idler gears on one occasion.
The slipper clutch is not overtight either - infact that likes to go through slipper pads quite a lot too. Are there any decent aftermarket bearing sets available that may help to alleviate these problems?? |
I buy all my bearings from a bearing traders,
I got for the precision German made bearing They are expensive but they are awesome :) |
Check your transmission case isn't damaged, as when you have a bearing failure it can warp where the bearing sits. They are quite a small bearing, something that could do with being changed for the next revision of the car

Have got all my bearings from them for years whatever scale and formula i have run! Good quality and good price |
Thanks for the replies - and the suggestion to check the gearbox case...i hadn't thought of that, but it would explain the repeated failures.

Also the aluminium spacer tube on the layshaft gradually gets "squished" up the layshaft by the slipper tension. The fix is to put a steel shim on the face of the tube, but an according amount has to be removed from the tube first. If a shim has beem fitted without filing the tube down first then the layshaft bearings get pre-loaded. |
We still have the plastic spacer, so will check the spacer tube too when the gearbox is stripped down.
