B4.1 gear diff rebuild

Just dismantled my b4.1 rtr gear diff

Put it all back together with the rebuild kit as per the instructions and it is horrific

Locks up and basically is not how it should be

Is there anything daft I might be missing.

The shims on the outdrive seem super tight cause the instructions says to use 2 shims. I've tried with 2, 1 and the old one and can't get this normally smooth diff rolling again

Did you pay attention to the notches in the axles?

Check this out!

You should shim it until it feels smooth with not to much wobble in the out drives. Don't try to squeeze to many shims in as your diff may not be that worn and need extra shims.
It's a feel thing. Build it dry until its smooth and a snug fit with as many shims as necessary then add oil or grease afterwards. Some of the shims might be different sizes so keep an eye on that.
It's fine to use one shim on one side and two on the other if that's what's need to get it right.

No amount of shimming, part alterations or patience has worked with this diff

the rebuild kit is just not the same.

the gears are much coarser, much taller and they are gold instead of silver

Ive lost all patience with it and very cheesed off cause ive had to shell out £31 for a complete diff

why cant they just make rtr cars the same as kit or factory cars

if this doesnt work anybody feel free to pm me an offer for the car, trust me itll be cheap

If they made rtrs with the ft cars the cost would rise allot! I would say another £100. The main reaon for rtrs is for starters and that would not be affordable for starters.

I would see your point if we were talking about gear vs ball or carbon chassis versus normal but surely there cant be much of a price difference between 2 gear diffs

Has there been a mix up may be.
I was hoping my B4.1 rtr gear diff would be the same internally as my SC10 4x4 diffs. They are very close but different enough that they don't match. Perhaps you have some wrong parts.
:(

well the new diff kit lists that it fits sc10 and b4 but the repair kit only fits the sc10.

hopefully the full diff will fix it and ill keep the repair kit for spares.
