Receiver aerial

Silly question, I know, but being a returnee to the sport I need to know how much of an aerial lead needs to be sticking out of the body these days? In my day (80's 90's) we needed about 200mm of aerial sicking out the body. However, my new 2.4Mhz receiver only has about 150mm of aerial on it! Can we get away with no external aerial?

Thanks!

Jimmy

None needs to be sticking out, but general opinion is that co-ax aerials should be left at factory length, where-as regular cable can be shortened a little bit.
Both mine are reg cables and one has approx 1" protruding from the body, the other in all internal

It is coaxial, so, where is it best positioned under the shell? Just somewhere out of the way of all the other electrical bits?

There is usually an aerial mount somewhere.

This is not my car, or picture, but gives you an idea what I'm on about.

None of the aerials on my car stick out of the shell. I just tuck them away neat on the chassis and never had any problems.
