Ticking time bomb?

I've got a badly swollen pack of Lipos sat in the middle of the garden outside and it's just started to pour down with rain......

Boost 17-09-2012 07:11 PM

film it :D

SlowOne 17-09-2012 08:09 PM

Cover it in salt and it will do all the work for you - saline solution without adding to your water bill!!

reg 17-09-2012 08:21 PM

poke it with a stick:woot:

Nas 17-09-2012 08:29 PM

Very dangerous,i would suggest leaving it out there until it burns off. As we all know the fumes from lipo batterys are very dangerous so stay back.

If you feel brave, cover it with salt (like someone else said) but i wouldn't suggest going near the exploding lipo.

If you have a Foam fire extinguisher cover the entire battery with that and hopefully that should stop it.

Good luck.

Thanks.

Go on, shoot it, you know you want to.........

Aaaaah fireworks, if you are lucky anyway, its notlikely to do much unless you charge or short it out

bigred5765 17-09-2012 08:34 PM

1:setup your cam corder
2:throw darts at it
3:roast marshmallows but from a distance

I've had two sets sat in a wheel barrow for months... still not gone up!

Dudders 17-09-2012 08:43 PM

BB Gun time! (or Darts, you northern boys always have darts laying around for t'pub time)

blue_pinky 17-09-2012 08:44 PM

My bet is it does nothing too...

NeilRalph77 17-09-2012 08:51 PM

What exactly is the correct method of disposal?

Nas 17-09-2012 08:56 PM

Neil, the current form of disposal is chucking it at your neighbors house i think. You might have to check with someone though.

Frecklychimp 17-09-2012 08:57 PM

since it's an open forum i would suggest disoposal in a safe and correct manner in accordance with manufacturers guidelines...

if it was'nt an open forum then i'd say put a hood on (to keep dry) and go pelt it with stones/bricks etc if an air rifle is available then bingo!

just keep any pets/kids away from it... wouldn't want the dog marking it as his and getting a shock!

AfroP 17-09-2012 09:03 PM

i say chuck lighter fluid on it and get the party started

reg 17-09-2012 09:23 PM

ok,sorry, safty first, put some gloves on so you dont get splinters from the point stick:lol:

DAVO 17-09-2012 09:29 PM

It may set on fire but wont explode

bodgit 17-09-2012 09:31 PM

Any noisy chavs in your steet with those loud exhausts? Stick the batteries in the tailpipe.

beale 17-09-2012 09:41 PM

Loving the last post and I am eying up the bean can on the little sh£$s sewing machine right now.
Anyway I heard that to dispose of a lipo you should bury it in a steel bucket full of sand left outside to fill with rain which will subdue any actions and discharge the cell quickly rendering it useless and safe but I don't know why or where I heard it?

You stab them with a screwdriver to let the air out when they are swollen.
