Tekin RS Brushless ESC released

Tekins R1 and R1 pro sensor-less brushless systems have been around for a while - but hard core racers now have their wish with a new sensored system from Tekin. The RS and RS Pro - the latter having a massive 48 fets on board for ultra low resistance and cool running.

The systems can run in either Sensored, sensorless or a combination of the two. And should the worst happen and water or collision damage interferes with the sensor wire, the system will automatically fall back to sensoreless mode so you can keep racing.

Where do you get this info from, Jimmy? I can not find this on the Tekin-Page ... or I must have missed it somewhere?

I bet you can't!!!!

The price will be pretty close to all the leading brands around today... The cheapest place currently in UK and most of Europe is The Raceplace.
They are selling the R1 Pro for £149.99 which is cheaper than nearly everywhere.
I would expect the RS Pro to be around that price, and having seen it running last weekend it was very good... Oh, and remember you can upgrade the software... how many other speedo's do that at the touch of your own fingertips ????

Easy: the Mamba Max does :)
In fact, also the Sidewinder .... all Castle Creations ESC do with their Castle Link-software.
The transfer does not go via a hotlink but via an USB-adapter. Works very easy!!

I didn't look at the website tbh, I just nicked the photos and the description. The way it works is described by Tekin themselves on rctech

DCM 22-05-2008 06:32 PM

the major difference between the Tekin and Mamba is that the Mamba needs a laptop to adjust, the Tekin doesn't, although the Hotwire does open up other facilities too, like motor timming. The space saved by not having the USB on-board is massive too.

Nope, not correct.
You can tune the MM (and the Sidewinder) after getting the ESC in setup-mode and by giving signals with the Radio. (Not an easy procedure!)

... about the USB-port: correct, but a little bird told me Castle Creations-technici are thinking about making the next gen ESC without this USB-port again, as is the Sidewinder.

DCM 22-05-2008 08:52 PM

ah, that isn't so bad, but not a simple procedure then.... bit like programming the mTroniks with it's two flashing lights lol

OldTimer 22-05-2008 10:14 PM

The new 1/8 Mamba Monster has no usb port. Just wish tekin would get the RX8 out so i can give it a try in.

DCM 22-05-2008 10:35 PM

use an R1.... the RX8 is based on it Jon

OldTimer 22-05-2008 10:44 PM

I guess there must be some difference ?, the R1 Pro is only upto 3s lipo :eh?: i am running 4s.

DCM 22-05-2008 10:50 PM

the difference mostly is in the BEC handling and the such, as there is a difference in how it has to handle it

DCM 22-05-2008 10:52 PM

although you can remove the =ve wire from the servo lead to stop the esc powering the radio, and run a receiver pack?

CHING CHING!!! I was gonna go for the Speed Passion, as it does go rather well, but I still have a major liking to Tekin, and now DCM has one I may be tempted. Whats it like to drive???

DCM 23-05-2008 09:40 PM

I took it out earlier, running a 14mm sintered rotor and an LRP 5.5 (courtesy of Mr Doughty sir!), Tekin LiPo and..... erm.... well lets put it this way, I have now backed the slipper off and turned the throttle profile down.... and the power limiter down.... it was stupid quick

Awesome! Looks great, looking forward to receiving mine in the post this week
Pics to follow for when it does :)
