Gear Diff in the wet

Does anyone else run a gear diff in the wet ? I have run a gear diff since i got my 210 but in a recent wet race day it was a real pain. Shifted weight around, made shock and spring changes, tyres etc etc but nothing really helped.

Is it just the fact the ball diff works better in the wet and this will give me back the grip i want ??

Did you try increasing your diff oil weight? I think the gear diff may be too direct in low grip conditions so ball may be the best way to go...

Gear Diff

Gear Diff in the wet is an absolute pig even with high weight oil.

I only use gear diff indoors and high traction astro when it's dry.

In the wet it's uncontrollable and ball diff is a must! Definitely an easy way of ruining a days racing!

I tried a gear diff with varying weights of oil, gave up and went back to a ball diff, car was quicker and more consistent.

Indoors on high grip the gear diff is certainly my preferred choice, although if there are large sections of slippy surface I will change to a ball diff.

what about at RHR,would the gear diff be ok?

As i thought then gents, thanks. Will build up a new gearbox with the ball diff in it so i can swap easily between the two :)

Definitely not! I tried the gear diff at the Oople race and was spinning all over the place!

My geared diff has 10k oil, in the wet I didn't notice the tires had to be new to 4 runs old before swapping. But the main problem when it wet is when the wheel deform and catch on the hubs. With the track being slick it magnifies the slight bit of resistance thus making the car spin out more. I found squeezing the wheels but round ish before each race helps.
