First test run in the garden - questions

After getting all the needed parts from the bay i was finally able to have my first test run in the garden.

The car:
XXX-Cr
Super Dialed Setup
+ Sway bar in the back

I'm loving the handling of the car.

The motor:
Nosram 14x2 23T pinion

The question:
The Motor got quite fast quite hot

Is this normal or did I miss something with the slipper/gearing.

I haven't had a car with a slipper before so...

Thanks.

Could you hear the slipper clutch slipping? It should slip around 2 feet.;)
The gearing sounds fine to me. How much run time did you get with a pack of batteries?

I haven't run one battery pack.
The problem is: i don't know how a rightly setup XXX sounds like.

Does the slipper make this scraping sound when i accelerate hard?

That would most likely be the diff I think

So what should I do?

Thighten the slipper?
Thighten the mashing of the motor pinion?
Or is this the normal sound when accelerating form standstill?

To clarify the sound happenes only at acceleration not on speed or off throtle.

Try tightening your diff if this oesnt solve the screaching noise rebuild the diff and make sure athe internal bearings are seated properly.

A 23 pinion is quite big. What size/colour spur gear are you running? Also, how big's your garden? If it's avg/small with longish grass then to me it sounds like it's geared too high.

Also agree with Ahhleyb4 - sounds to me like the diff is slipping. Do it up 1/8 turn, try again, repeat etc etc, but DON'T do it up really tight.

As a rough guide for the gear mesh, place a piece of paper in between the pinion & spur, then tighten the motor screws. There should be a small amount of 'play' between the pinion & spur.

It will be the diff, sounds very loose to do it with a 14 turn motor....tighten it all the way then undo it by an 1/8th, or keep tightening until you can land off jumps, bumps etc without the diff screeching.
