Smoothest motors these days?
So what's the current crop of smooth motors these days?
|
I run both HPI and Orion. Orion are probably smoother, HPI are just ballistic! Great motors for the money.

LRP X20 series are VERY smooth.

The Orion's are by far the smoothest I've tried, have a mate who runs the HPI motors and they don't hang about.

Hi, my comparison is between x12 and speed passion V3, the x12 is ballistic in anything, 13.5 in touring and 5.5 in a dex410, rather aggressive motor, can get warm quick but can handle 3 figures- cooked one at 130 deg C. On the other hand the speed passion was my choice for the 2wd in my b4, used a 7.5 and was smooth delivery with a good top end and ran nice and cool- but no comparison to the Durango down the straight. One thing to bare in mind is the ability to change the static timing on both these motors, that can alter some characteristics of power delivery.

I did have a 7.5 LRP X12 in my Centro and i have now gone to an 8.5 HPI pro Flux and it has transformed my driving style,a lot smoother.....i would highly recommend them, excellent value for money

You guys should try the LRP X20.
I also tested orion and speed passion motors and the X20 feels like the orion but even more linear and more torque. The X12 has nothing to do with the X20 as it's a complete new design. |
