Hi all got a few questions

1. What effect on my xx4 if i change the wheelbase ive alwasy run it medium will it make any diffrence i know about 2wd but the motor is hanging out the back.

2. I bought Molded Diff Thrust Bearing LOSA 3098 and ive recieved it and the washers havent got any grooves in them there like normal washers. pictured below Can i still use this in my xx4/cr diff????

changing the wheelbase has the same effect on any car weather it be 2wd drive or not Ash , and thrust washers i use have never had grooves in them , the same as diff washers dont..

shorter wheelbase makes the car feel very nimble and good on tight turns , very good on small tight tracks, without big jumps or bumps

longer wheelbase makes the car more stable and better in wide high speed turns , soaks up the bumps better .

Ash, those thrust washers are not for the CR diff. The part no. for the thrust washers for the CR diff is

A3018 ............. JRX-S H.D THURST BEARING SET

..which do have grooved washers ;)

I don't know if you can actually run the old style in the CR diff though mate, Mr Preddy might though..... :thumbsup:

I dont use the cr diff stan i use xx4 outdrives xx4 diff rings and cr diff screw and spring and cr diff gear. Ill ask brian see what he says about the xx4 diff.

In the XX4 you can use either A3099 or A3098 thrust races, if you fit the XXXcr one (A3018) the diff screw won't quite be long enough, and the drive shaft will bottom out on the top of the diff screw.

Also if you use the XXXcr monster diff screw and spring in the XX4 diff, you'll find it hard to get the proper adjustment, thats why I still use the beveled washers in mine. You just need to replace them every once in a while, as they lose the spring tension.

What are the advanges of running the XXX-cr diff parts in the XX-4 and the X-5 ?

Some of us not sure what brian runs but me and stan run the xx4 outdrives diff rings but cr diff screw and cr diff gear in the cr as the diff rings on the cr are like tin foil and rubbish. You can run steel outdrives on the xx4 which means you wont kill outdrives (think IRS do some and a company in the states aleternatively you could use cr diff outdrives but dremmel a flat spot on them so you can use xx4 diff rings) the other options is to make sure you have the new style diff outdrives with the small ring around or buy some outdrive savers which are hard to get but there are some floating about.

There is nothing wrong with the quality of the XXXcr diff parts, as the diff in my car hasn't been touched for months, if your diff in the 2wd is failing, it's because your not building it right.

I use the moulded outdrives with the small saver ring included on my XX4, and they last a season without any problems.
The only time I would run a steel diff, is if the track was really bumpy and rutted.

There is no advantage in running the XXXcr diff in you 4wd as it is designed to slip a little, which is no good in the XX4 as it just slips all the time.

As posted futher up the page I don't use any of the XXXcr diff parts in my XX4 just the stock parts.

Yea alot of people have told me that there is nothing wrong with the cr diff and i aggree with that as i ran mine for a few months then it went pop :p the only reason i started running the xx4 diff was because i could only get hold of xx4 diff rings so i used the xx4 diff as it was what i could get hold of at the time and just carried on running it as i was more familiar with it.

Well my xx4 diff rings have lasted longer and the cr diff is trickier to get right and i dont like tricky stuff so i just keep it simple and stick with what i know.
