Going 5 cells, what motor?

Hello mates!

I'm planning on going 5-cells this season in my B4 and Predator. I'm currently running 6 cells and a Novak 6.5R turn motor in my B4 and it's really fast. But batteries are quite expensive so to keep the cost down I would like to go 5 cells. The question is, what motor should I go for in my B4 and Pred? I tried my 6.5 motor in B4 with 5 cells but it was quite slow and accelerated really bad. I want to have the same performance as with 6 cells. Would a 4.5 or 5.5 be a good choice in the B4 and a 4.0 or 4.5 in the Pred?

Regards Tobbe

in the 2wd i would go for a novak 5.5L motor. Not sure on the pred though.

OK 5.5L, what's different between the L and an R motor?

I run 5 cells in a B4 and a BJ4 and I run 5.5 in both. You have to adjust the power curve and the gearing to suit though. I run the B4 on 17/81 and it's not really slow.
Have a fiddle with your setups too, because you can do a lot more with weight distribution now.

You can get a 6.5 to work, just gear the crap out of it and turn up the punch on your speedo.

OK, hehe I never thought about turning up the punch control on my ESC:lol:. Must try it out, thanks! I think I keep the 6.5 in my B4 and get a 5.5 for the Pred.:)
