KO Esprit 3 DX3R Conversion
 

Hi does any one have any info on this conversion, I've found a picture of Spashetts hand set but no info on the work required to convert.

I believe Horizon do the conversion.

Time to nip this in the bud perhaps.

Horizon do not do the conversion and its not something that they can warrant.

The conversions have been done by Ian Spashett and are not handled by Horizon in any way. The only aspect that may involve Horizon as such is if you chose to contact David Spashett whilst he is at work in order to obtain the contact details for his dad.

You will require to provide your donor transmitter and a suitable Spektrum DX3R or DX3R Pro Tx but the conversion itself is not something Horizon will get involved with.

Yeh not sure why anyone would think this would be an of the shelf conversion from Horizon way to many things to go wrong and have problems with.

I was aware this would be a fully DIY conversion just wondered if any one had info on it?

I'm sure I also read somewhere that Spektrum may be bringing out a stick radio??

Everyone is probably getting bored with me harping on about this, but at the risk you havent heard, the FrSky conversion is less than half the price of any Spektrum set and arguably better.

Yes seen your stuff Cardnim and it looks good I may possibly go down that route yet, the only thing that puts me off is the receiver's having the plugs on the end rather than the top and I would have to buy loads of new receivers, I currently have about 6 Spektrum ones although even then I'm sure the FrSky would still work out cheaper.

Fair point about having all the Spektrum recievers - makes sense then to stick with what youve got lots of.

Saying that though, I've seen a few people saying that they dont like the FrSky reciever with lugs out the end.
However, what they maybe dont understand is that any of the FrSky "V8" series of recievers will work with this conversion. So, for example, you could have this one:
