A few more Back in the Day pics

No mugshots I'm afraid, just a few odd ones the Mrs found t'other day while
she was looking for some of her old pics.

It's 1987 and I've bought myself a new toy, just built and not yet run.

I worked at Rist's Wires and Cables(Lucas Body Systems)back then(1987-2001).
One of the maintenance fitters was also a scale modeller and RC toy owner,so he started up a buggy racing club on the works site.
Shale car parks in summer, indoor at the works Social Club in winter.

Here's one of the very, very early line ups,I'd splashed out on a new body and sticker set for the Boomer and painted it yellow instead of it's original factory white:

Right to left are Mick Bulnois's Hornet,my Boomerang,Dave Brunt's Marui Shogun and Andy Pleavin's Great Vigor(IIRC)Optima copy

Gunning 'em off the line:

I get away straight and clean,Pleavo heads for the grass,Brunty tries to keep up with his Shogun and Mick trails with the Hornet.

Boomer rounding the traffic cone:

Think I cocked up getting back onto the footpath and rolled it:cry:

Brunty's Shogun at speed on the shale:

Not sure what happened to that Shogun,I know it ate the rear gearbox internals, but it was still in good nick.
It'll be worth some brass now no doubt.

Mick's son flogged his Hornet to death,I sold the Boomer for £15 in '89
when I bought the Optima Mid Custom. It'd had been raced hard for two years and was well thrashed.

I saw Plev t'other week when I was out flogging the Cobrat at the BMX track, turns out he's still got his Great Vigor Optima copy,he hasn't run it for years, but I know it has more Optima bits on it than Great Vigor,so it must be a right time capsule.

That's all folks.
