R/C Electric Off Road Advice Please!!!!
 

hey guys! new to the forum but desperately seeking some good advice regarding rc cars.

i have had many RC cars before but only one kit car (Tamiya Mad Bull) which was about 10 years ago and i want to get back into the RC scene :)

my requirements

Budget - £250
Type: Off Road
4WD
brushless

i know my budget isnt massive but i have seen some models that i quite like...i would love your reviews opinions on the following please..

If you're looking to race RC cars I would only consider the Losi Mini8 (if there is a suitable club nearby that races that 'micro' class)...

The top two in your list are suitable for 'bashing' - of those I'd go for the Traxxas which will likely be better quality & have better spare parts availability over the other one.

If you want to RACE 1/10 buggies - where you will find countless clubs all over the UK - then I would consider a 2wd brushless set up such as a B4.1 or Losi 22 - both available as RTR (ready to run) set ups for around your price range.

Hi there, welcome to the forum.

Of the cars you've looked at there the only serious 'race' car is the losi.

It's a micro class car, and the micro scene is a growing and constantly improving class of racing...and that car will pretty much work for you straight out the box!

But...if your looking to start club racing...and before you spend a penny...find your nearest club(s), go along, have a chat with the guys there, check what classes they run and what cars are popular, what the trackside shop supports (if there is one!) and go from there. Support will be a big part of the hobby if your fairly serious about racing at a club.

Your budget is going to limit your options to begin with...so you may want to explore 2nd hand cars/kit as well.

If your just interested in bashing around on your own...then that's quite different! Any of those cars would be fine I would guess?!?! But I would check our spares availability...you will break stuff...some more than others...but we all do!!! :)

thanks for the advice, im not looking into hardcore racing or anything just looking into bashing and social racing!

the bsd model would you guys say its good value and a reliable enough brand?

has anyone had experience with BSD and parts availability??

i am leaning towards the BSD as its 4wd, brushless and includes lipo batteries etc!
any similar models people would recommend instead would be great!

I don't know much about them but a quick google search reveals a chinese brand that appears to aim at the budget end of the RC market...

In the UK spares are available via ebay & Black Smith Products (online store) but I don't know to what extent.

Personally, I would stick to the 'known' brands (Losi, AE, Traxxas, etc)where you know spares & support will be good. But you can't argue with those prices:)

yea i know what you mean mate! after doing a little bit of research i am now leaning towards the Losi Mini Eight...

simply because as mentioned before i dont think getting parts for that BSD truck is as easy and getting it for the losi 8

plus the losi with lipo battery and alli upgrades seems more worthwhile! :)

Also i would consider the new team c & ansmann range of buggies as their parts are available in the uk & they do some good buggies, short course & stadium trucks, worth a look i would say for your budget

I'm new to rc cars all together and havnt got a clue but the vantage brushless one at 200 poundish was well recommended by my local rc shop rossmod even though I ended up jumping in feet first with a cat sx3 at a lot more money but they said the 200 pound vantage would be fine to race with if on a budget? I bought my little girl the cheaper vantage and it is bomb proof! She has crashed it into everything :) Just thought I would give it a mention
