Best way to shorten servo leads

Just wanted to see what tools/tricks people use to shorten servo wires.

I'v done it plenty of times on futaba/ko servos where the lead is at the bottom of the case and can be re-soldered on the board.

Some servos have the lead buried in the centre of them. So you need to cut and shorten at the plug end.....

Whats the best crimping tool out there for the job??

Do you solder the leads to the pins as well as crimp??

1. measure the length you want it
2. crack open the servo case
3. unsolder old wires
4. cut to desired length, remembering the bit of wire inside the servo
5. resolder wire to circuit board
6. reassemble servo
7. plug it in and test
8. job done.

Edit. sorry I then re-read your post about them being buried in the gubbins. not had one myself, but i'd just take it apart and get to it.
