What classes are currently run at GERCC?

Ideally with approximate numbers for each.

Getting close to having some time to come back and race on Fridays again but knowing how fast things change I thought I best check what the score is first!!

Very prudent to check in as we change our classes often.

Right now we're running two heats of TC, 2-3 heats of Mardaves and a heat of offroaders. Its quiet right now...

Mardave is the one class I don't have access to I think

Really Rog, it isn't that exclusive any more. Even unsponsored drivers are able to race the class - yes, really!

What!!!! how can you afford to run a mardave with no sponsorship, I have enough trouble keeping my mechanical speed controller in good working order and I have almost ran out of my stockpile of kit supplied Tamiya switch lubricant, Oh how the other half live.

What I meant was it is about the only class I would need to go and buy everything new for; car, cells, motor & esc as a minimum.
That's a lot of of cash to spend to go club racing only a couple of times a month at best.

I agree however that it's got to be a great class given the size of the hall, can imagine it's quite close racing and loads of fun.

Fair enough I understand that, but even buying everything from scratch would still set you back less than half a touring car kit with no electronics so I would think it would be quite competitive. For example the VRX-CE I am running cost me £90 for the kit, I run a £9 2S batt and a 13T Hobbywing speedo and ESC can be had for around the £50 mark. There's no limit this year in Mardave motor or speedo so you can use whatever you already have anyway.

However, being realistic if you don't want to shell out for any hardware just bring your touring car down. Still enough of those running to have a decent race. I wouldn't bother with buggies, last week 3 were running.

I've had a look, priced up an R10 1S, Orion 13.5VST and then realised that Orion don't do a 1s LiPo .... have to start looking at street prices for those.

TC it will probably be TBH, just need to remember what tweaks I wanted to do after the last time I was there (trim front of shell, limit rear droop a fraction I think that was all ... maybe)

Where you are going wrong is 1S.
Expensive, unreliable and barely anyone, if at all, at Glos is running it.

I thought the SupaStox circuit car was a 1S chassis???? Explain please :)

If you want to race the Schumacher Supastox you will not count for points, at least this year, at GERCC. Mark G has one and it certainly runs well. To clarify, there are 2 versions of this car, 1S and 2S. I know not everyone agrees but I think from a technical and cost standpoint, 1S is a complete waste of time.

Will have to look at your rules and work out what is best to do.

Most other places (locally) run the 1S SupaStox as the control class.

I'm not really interested in points, just some track time really mate. Points scoring is only a concern if you can race in a series regualrly enough to stand a chance, something which sadly I can't do ... not on fridays anyway.

I wouldn't mind buying and running a TC if there were more clubs around so I could take advantage of the car

I know 1S is popular in the GT12, but this is mainly because that's what you have to run in the Nationals and so that is what is in the BRCA rule book. There have been several (lively) discussions about this subject, there was actually a very good test done by someone as a 1S/2S comparison. There was almost zero performance difference (1S 13.5 vs 2S 21.5) and I am still very surprised that 1S won out, but it is pretty much because a lot of 12th scale guys were represented at the meetings and that is the gear they already run.
Anyway, whatever you decide to do it would be good to see you down at the club soon.
