what do you prefere BL or brushed?

Like it says BL or brushed?

And what motors & wind do you use?

In my 501 I use a 4,5T BL or a 9X2 V2 motor

bigred5765 05-05-2008 02:06 PM

brushless all the way
any one that tells you any difference is just mad
nosram speedos 6.5 2wd 5.5 4wd

On a smal track I feel that i have more power with brushed than with BL, I alsoe feel that with BL th power band is diffrent and more top speed:o

bigred5765 05-05-2008 07:23 PM

i would say you have the wrong motor in

losixxx 05-05-2008 07:40 PM

carl you forgot the main part of your first post IMO......!
personally i prefer the feel of a brushed motor have tried both and im sticking with brushed for the time being....especialy after seeing all the problems with brushless and wet racing!!!

Lee 05-05-2008 07:50 PM

I agree with losixxx, i personally prefer the feel of a brushed motor setup, i feel like the brushless motors feel almost flat

I have been tempted to go back to brushed motors again, but i am a bit lazy and like the maintenance free side of things

I Like brushless in 4wd but in 2wd i think i preffered brushed in 2wd but i preffer the low mainternance so ill get used to it.

imo your right

Southwell 06-05-2008 07:04 AM

I prefere brushes but ive stuck to brushless and am getting better with it, if i changed back it would only be in 2wd as that motor will be several meetings before skimming.

Lee 06-05-2008 07:34 AM

When i look back, my results have been worse since going brushless, i didnt think it would make much difference to me, maybe it does

I find it's the instant power that i don't like, all my punch settings are turned down on brushless whereas on brushed it feels less aggressive.

im having the same problem Ian, Punch setting on lowest possible using a Novak 6.5L and its still as punchy as hell :(..
might have to go to a 7.5 L see if it changes it ..

Ive turned my curve down by about 30% on my tranny too

Lee 06-05-2008 07:50 AM

I might try a brushed in my 2wd for Oz:)

Proper retro:woot:

bigred5765 06-05-2008 09:54 AM

i would just say your all to old and slow to drive brushless :)

super__dan 06-05-2008 10:15 AM

Ian and Paul, I've recently kind of found the same and so have started running a 7.5 in 2wd, though on a big track like I expect this weekend to be a 6.5L will be going back in. I prefer to run the 'softer' motor and gear up as I find the motors much more tolerant on high gearing than I originally realised of the recomended overall rations suggest.

I also now run -15% throttle (and steering as it happens) curve, which I too have upped to 30% on occasion.

Southwell 06-05-2008 10:29 AM

I have done the same on my steering curve too, i guess it's a characteristic of brushless? I never went below -10 on my throttle with brushed, and that was only at tivvy!

Well, it's been a bit like "letting the cat outta the bag" / old skool turbo with B/L systems, but it's improving all the time. I found the new Speed Passion GT ESC to be VERY smooth!

B/L in the wet is very critical indeed!

I tried going back to brushed, but I didn't like it now that I'm used to coasting with almost no resistance... which I really like!
