gearing question....

Running a tekin rs pro in a v3, with the "standard" tekin setup and a tekin redline 6.5, in a 410.

Was previously running the tekin esc with an old Novak 6.5r in there, geared 23/87 without issue and everything ran very cool.

Since putting the redline in there on the same gearing, it all gets rather warm and has thermalled too - the only other difference was the 410 was on schuey silver tyres not the usual yellows/ballistic combos.

The motor was out of my 210 and it ran fine in that.

What gearing would be a suggested starting point?

Same setup to mine Chris except I was running 21/87 with a 5.5T Redline at Southport this weekend so 23 for a 6.5 would be what I'd also choose. It was a hot humid day, so a good test - all OK for me. Yes, I know the motor is too quick for my ability:)

In the past I have had my Tekin RS Pro thermal but that was when I tried running in Sensored, rather than Dual mode. No doubt about it sensored ran very hot. Also, it could just be coincidence, but I feel my ESC and motor seem to run cooler after downloading the latest ESC firmware.

Sounds odd to me fella.

I ran kit spur with 24 pinion at the weekend on a speed passion 5.5 with Lrp speedo.
Hot day and fast southport track - it was hotter than normal - but not a problem.

On grass tracks I run a 22 pinion and the motor comes off warm (you can put your hand around motor without getting burnt!)

Is the 410 transmission free / anything binding - maybe a cvd pin catching etc ?

I thought I was in the right area regards gearing.

Ther transmission is free as a bird with no binding at all.

Could this heat inicated capacitor failure on the esc?

Try running it in dual mode as I know I can't go over 22/87 over here in Australia other wise it gets to hot as well
