Oxford racing

Going to be moving there in September so was wondering where are the nearest clubs? Currently run 1/10th buggies, but will buy something else if needed.

Cheers.

These two are both very popular and within a hours drive for 1/10th buggy

Silverstone
Telstar Milton Keynes

also this is a popular place but around 1hr 30mins away

Surrey and hants

Good advice from Sam above. The old Oxon club that you may find references to closed a few years ago, Oxford city (I am assuming sept uni start ?) is in the middle of the mid-south brca area, you may need transport.

Map of 10th Mid South

There is High Wycombe that run 1/18th and others, or you can easy make Hillingdon or Milton Kevnes in just over an hour on a good day if you want TC. There is 10th off road in Watford with DMS and at Taplow near Heathrow.

Thanks for the information (not starting Uni; actually got a lecture post!).

Oxford looks like a bit of a grave yard for clubs. Humm.

There is West Berks RC Club in Newbury about an hour from Oxford an indoor track Wed nights and most Saturdays, also Titchfield off Road Club in Hampshire about 1.5 hours away run every Sunday.
Both run 2 and 4wd.

I'm just south of Oxford and was using West Berkshire for my club night, they have lost their current venue but are working hard to find another. Telstar over towards Milton Keynes is a good indoor club night, 45 mins away. Torch RC club down near Southampton is a brilliant club for outdoor racing on astro (hour away).

James.

Unfortunately it seems that way, I know there are RC boats in Hinsky  Good flight stuff at BMW in Cowley (good show every year), Flight shop in St Clements, good rc toy shop in Kidlington (Howes).

You need a sympathetic venue, numbers every week to cover costs and a strong individual to run and set up the clubs and keep drivers informed. (who need to put in hours because they enjoy it)
The clubs mentioned do have that, Silverstone, Telstar, DMS, Surrey & Hants and TORCH are all over oOple. Stotfold have a good regular crew.

West Berkshire Raceway were running at a loss and are now looking for a cheaper venue or something - not easy.

There is a TC club in Newbury - also on Greenham Estate, across the road from West Berks. There is also Swindon for buggies.
But, based in Oxford you will have to travel a bit, all the clubs will be pleased to see you, and the tracks are good with good racing and top drivers, hope you can sort something.

As I said before - Oxford is in the middle of the Mid South area, a drive north or south....east or west....
