The second round of the HPI/Apex Models Short Course Southern Series 2012 will take at EPR on 15 July. The event will be run by the club, with support coming in the form of HPI and Apex Models who are sponsoring the series.

I not sure if they realised but round 4 of the Shortcourse nationals is the same day :(

I bought a SC so I would definitely be able to race this year so if anyone has a clue about setting up SC and will be at EPR this Sunday can they give it a drive for me in practice and tell me what is wrong. Would really appreciate it as it drives like a toy not a race machine!

Thanks

Martin, any clues as to which model SCT you now have, it would help either us to help you or point you in the direction of smoebody that may be able to.

I have one of these, from my limited experience driving it I can see that most people have the shocks too soft. This creates far too much roll and makes it drive crap. Try 80wt Losi oil in the front and 45wt in the back, this is how mine is set up and it's fine

Shame this clashes with one of the short course national rounds

Just one more week to go to this event! Here's hoping the weather improves!

Unfortunately do not appear to be able to get any access to the host (Adur Model Car Club) clubs website whether they be through Google or the link above, we have raised this with the club.
As we have had several enquiries from potentially new SCT competitors we, EPR, would appreciate any more details from the organising club especially rules and also how we go about booking-in as this was supposed to be done online!

Though I havent checked with those that are running it, we can, I would have thought, take booking-in on the morning of the event! And would expect the rules to be much the same as the recognised rules for both 2WD and 4WD SCT's respectively.

Just a reminder that we will be running an open class at the weekend for buggies alongside the 2WD and 4WD SC classes.

Schedule will follow our usual format of gates open at 8am with practice from 8.30am, for an hour. First heat on the line at 10am.

E-mails can be sent to me at [email protected]

HPI/Apex short course challenge

0diggsdigg

4 clubs hosting this series, with 3 put of 4 rounds counting for a championship. This is for 1/10th electric shortcourse trucks. £5 for each round, so come along and enjoy the day.

The rounds are:-

3rd June at TORCH
15th July at Eden Park
12th August at SHRCCC
16th September at Adur

HPI Shortcourse challenge 2012

Planned Summer event 4 rounds of racing, 4 clubs each hosting their own round, support from APEX Models, and sponsors HPI. Entry fee to be fixed at £5 with all funds to hosting club.
Dates to be arranged but to be Sundays, and the aim is to promote Shortcourse within the respective clubs, and to attract new drivers, each club should attempt to have some attendance at each round. Potential to widen out and have ‘club’ teams within each round scoring points for their respective clubs, to lead to a club champion.
Aim to run 2 and 4 wheel drive classes, and possibly could consider a third class of RTR.
Rules to be minimal.
    1. All cars to represent full size short course trucks
    2. Classes - This series is open to all 1/10th Scale 2wd and 4wd Short Course Trucks
    3. Tyres - Only specific 1/10th short course tyre allowed (2.2” outer bead and 3.0” inner bead). No converted 1/8th buggy wheels.
    4. Body - Only 1/10th short course bodies allowed, with enclosed wheel arches, minimum cut outs and be a true representation of the full size vehicle.
    5. Motor – Brushed or brushless motors allowed either 540 or 550 size.
    6. Batteries - 7.2 volt MiMH or NiCd or 2 cell lipo maximum allowed. Lipo batteries to be charged in a Lipo charging sack.
    7. Bumpers - SCT style front and rear bumpers must be fitted in lines with existing manufacturers trucks
    8. General Construction – car must be constructed / design not to cause personal injury. E.g. no sharp edges, enclosed gears, bumpers to be suitable material such as plastic or rubber.
    9. Speed Controller - Speed controllers with reverse will be allowed, but penalties will be given for incorrect use (see rule 3.4)
Whilst Rubbing is racing, deliberate poor driving (t boning etc) to see stop go pit stop. (RD discretion). At our round of the SC nationals this year some a finalists spent their qualifying round bumping others off the track etc...its about racing and driving around others not through them.(this is a contentious issue so an agreed etiquette to be established in advance) no driving the wrong way around the track etc.
4 rounds of qualifying with 5 minute heats Round by Round basis 3 of 4 to count.
Finals to be doubled legged, at 7 minutes each, aim to have large finals no bumps, but ideally 12 per final(however we need to confirm each club could accommodate via rostrum etc).
Relief marshalling. Loss of FTD as penalty if needed. Hi viz jackets to be worm etc
Grid starts by car number, with improving cars through the day moving up through the heats. Finals will be mass start but from qualifying grid position.
Three of four event rounds to count for championship.

Championships
2 wheel drive class
4 wheel drive class

Interclub championship....proposal here to be 6 drivers from each club will have their results from each round totted up to give a team score, and we will have a club as a champion. Aim to have 6 drivers with 4 in reserve in case a round cannot be attended etc.

I think the Met Office words for this are either 'unsettled' or 'changeable':
