Durango Dex210: Driveshaft touches T Nut!
 
Hi,

I've now bought a Dex 210 and the building was really fun and I liked it very much. Now as I got to the end I faced a Problem: the left driveshaft touches the T nut of the differential and I can not move the suspension arm...

Could you please tell me what I did wrong? I am really worried:eh?:

I checked now some enties in the forum and it seems that other people had the same problem and the only way to solve it is to tighten the diff.

But don't you think I could get a problem if it is tightend that much?

I want to go with this guide: http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...er-clutch.html

It says that I should hold both diff exits and then tighten it so much, that I can not move the gear anymore...
That's exactly what I did when I built it, but then I faced the problem with the driveshaft and t nut...

Check your droop screws and turn buckle lengths.
And are you 100% sure the diff is put together correctly?

Sorry for my English, but I do not know which part you mean with droop screw: could you maybe explain it? :)

I am pretty sure that the diff is built perfectly: I used the video of the Durango homepage and did it very exactly...

Hi Bottomline, I had the same problem you had last night as I have built a new dex210 as well. I thought I had tightened the diff up tight enough, and I have built over a dozen cars over the past few years.

You can only tighten the diff so far with the diff in your hands, and you think it will be tight enough. But it is not tight enough this way. You need to have the car completely built, tires glued, and tighten the diff more, which in my case was about roughly 2 more complete turns. Then the diff nut is set more in, and driveshaft will not hit the nut anymore.

below is a picture of what it should look like.

Looking from behind the car it should be the right driveshaft. You may have the diff in the wrong way round. This won't stop the binding but will stop it from slackening off when racing.

make sure you have the circlip in the diff the right way around
believe it or not there is a right and wrong way, if you check the build guide on the Durango website it will help.
ensure you have compressed the diff spring a good few times with some pliers before you build the diff

do loosen the droop screws a bit and see if it helps

and remember that the rear turnbuckles according to the manual are actually the incorrect length. check the only manual to see what the correct length is.

When I look at the car from behind: At which side does the T nut have to be??:bored:

Left and right is determined as if you were sat in it.

Nut should be on the right.

Are you sure about this?

Does not also make the type of Motor Setup (RM, MM) make a difference?

At my B4.1 the t nut was on the left side...I am really worried now:cry:

Nut goes on opposite side to b4 diff. Don't panic!!

I had the same and took it apart and rebuilt. Went together better - something must not have been seated quite right. There's not much driveshaft plunge so it will be close even when built ok.

So the T Nut has always to be on the right side and the typ of motor setup does not matter?
Than I will rebuild it and try RM4 for our bad grip courses in Austria :drool:

certainly MM4, the nut is on the opposite side to B4/X6/etc.

Pay careful attention to the online manual and you won't go far wrong!!

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I have the same problem with the diff and the t-nut. Nowhere in the manual it says that the nut should be on the right hand side, if anything, it suggests the left side. Could someone show me where it says it should go on the right?
