Planning a road trip- Any clubs that allow free practice.

Hi all.

A mate and I have had this idea that we fancy doing a road trip for a long weekend and the plan is to find a few tracks where we can come and have a play with our RC cars. We both race 1/10 2wd but we are both very new and don't take it very seriously. I'm hoping to find a few clubs/tracks that would allow a couple of losers come and play at their circuit. Of course we would be happy to pay an entrance fee or what ever. To be honest I think we'd rather it was just for some practice rather than racing.

So does anyone know any track where this might be possible. I'd love to try and cover as many as we can over a 3/4 day period. We aren't fussed where about they are as I'm hoping if we can find enough we can plan a route to hit several. Anywhere in the uk is good. We don't have a weekend in mind yet buy I guess we are talking late July early August.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Ooh exciting 1 already!! Fairly close to home so that looks like either the first stop or the last on the return leg. Looks like we are heading south!

How about somewhere south west............ anyone any ideas?

Caldicot club run every Friday night, indoors

blue_pinky 18-06-2012 10:42 AM

Caldicot is a good shout...much fun racing there...racers of all skill levels so you'd fit right in, and good fun indoor offroad tracks

And also in the South West, in Weston-super-Mare, the new WORM track might be a possibility too as we will do guest access!

Although perfectly driveable now, we're due to completely cover the whole thing in better astro mid July, and I can organise access depending on the dates...PM me here if your interested and we'll see what we can do!

If you do pull this off you should keep a diary...and post pics of all the places you visit...it would be a good little bit of PR for the clubs you visit

if you're a member of Kidderminster club you can use their track almost all year round. It is closed for practice in the weeks leading up to a big meeting.

Contact Tony Meredith on [email protected] if you wish to join

RHR offer practice at any time by arrangement, so you can come here!

Amazing this is actually looking possible.

MattADH- AWESOME my family are originally from Bromley and I still have people I can stay with near there so this will be perfect.

Blue_pinky- I am so pleased you have posted as Weston was one of the tracks on my wish list! I have been following the blog about the circuit with interest for a while as my parents have a holiday cottage in your area.

Big G- We would be happy to pay a membership fee (as long as it's not too much). When we have some more details I will coming asking for some more info!

James- Yay another track on my wishlist. Means a good hack up the country but that will just add to the fun.

Belsten- Thanks for the note, it might be nice to try a race on route. The original plan was to actually start the journey on a Friday afternoon but your suggestion may make me re think this.

I love the idea of doing a diary of the journey. I am having visions of a live feed and update as we travel. Perhaps could even get people from the forum to come and meet us at the track.

This started as a bit of a late night random chat between Shaun TLR and I but I think it might actually become reality!

I might need to start considering some AA cover for the van!

It's £5 for the year lol

Shaun_TLR 19-06-2012 08:12 PM

I can live with £5 for the year !! Anyone else allow us for a bash on our "UK Tour 2012" ? :)

If you get lost during your trip and end up in manchester there are a few places to visit.

Maxbashing 20-06-2012 01:35 PM

Mike- we haven't planned the route yet and Manchester could be possible, do you have any more details please?

hotrodchris 20-06-2012 04:43 PM

If you end up on the South Coast TORCH run every Sunday a friendly bunch that won't bite!

Evo_Snr 20-06-2012 05:24 PM

If you planning the last weekend in July then Southport are doing a two day event together with a large Model Rally.

Am I missing something or just stupid but where is Torch??

Evo_snr thanks but I think it is likely to be August.

MrMagoo 20-06-2012 07:57 PM

TORCH - Titchfield Off Road Club Hants, link to the website and Facebook page in my sig. Come on down, we'd be happy to see you trackside!

Maxbashing 20-06-2012 08:17 PM

Thank you Mr Magoo that is looking very possible! When we have some idea of dates I'll be in touch.

I am starting to see a route now. I think from Norfolk it's north downward, down to Somerset and via the south coast and Kent on the way back home. I think I'd better start buying some spare tyres.

Shaun_TLR 21-06-2012 04:41 AM

Torch Looks like a fun track. Definitely worth considering a flying pitstop there!!
