More Hobbywing shenanigans

Yesterday I installed and set up both HW ESCs in my car (not at the same time):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/110880838109...84.m1439.l2649

Everything seemed to work perfectly except when programming the 150A XERUN the program box doesn't give me the option to enable or disable the overheat protection facility. Everything else mentioned in the manual can be changed but this just doesn't come up on the screen when they say it should.

I can't imagine anything is actually wrong with the ESC because everything else works as it should but it seems a bit strange, especially as this can be adjusted on the WP SC8.

If anyone else has experienced this problem and knows what i'm doing wrong could they let me know? Thanks.

I think I find that on the 150A ESC if you do not use a sensored motor then the option is not available as it relies on a sensor in the motor. I think that there should be two options for temp cutoff, one for the motor and one for the esc.

I forgot to mention i'm using the EZRUN 2700kv sensorless motor with both controllers so perhaps the controller doesn't have the OH protection facility when running in sensorless mode but it should still give the option of protecting the ESC from overheating which is why i'm confused.

It may be that in s/less mode it does this automatically like the Castle MMM.

That's correct. In sensorless mode it provides over temp protection for the esc by default. In sensored mode, it protects by default with the ability to turn it off.

Thanks, that probably explains why I can turn the OHP on and off on the WP SC8, because that only runs sensorless motors (I think it allows you to run sensored motors but in sensorless mode).
