B44 wheels DON'T fit the BJ4 WE?

This is interesting. The hex size is perfect. A good fit and more deep than Losi wheels, but this depth causes the wheels to rub against the hub at the hex.

Is this well known? Is it just my hex bit on the axle being too shallow? Is there a known mod for this little problem?

Yikes!

Elliott.

Yep, Just use the B44 hexes.

Doomanic 26-04-2008 11:50 PM

Will that make the car too wide?

Elliott Hopkins 26-04-2008 11:57 PM

It's what I expected. Thanks Zipper.

I noticed the B44 wheels may have a slightly different smaller offset.

Does this mean that JConcepts wheels won't fit the JConcepts car?? Yep you need B44 hexes on that badboy. I have some JC wheels on the way for use on my Tamiya/Aero/etc etc - and will 'adapt' some B44 hexes to fit..

Which reminds me - who has some B44 hexes in stock? I need some!

Elliott Hopkins 27-04-2008 12:09 AM

I can't believe this isn't more well known.

:)

Or a couple of small shims thats all i did, its no biggy:thumbsup:

Or if you take the pin out, remove the hex, replace the pin and put the hex on the other way round, it gives just enough offset to allow you to use the B44 wheels!!

Then you don't have to buy anything ;)

Just make sure when youR take you wheels back off you don't lose the hex's!!

Nope lol

I was confused when Jason gave me some wheels to use in Florida, I went over to ask him why they didn't fit and he just handed me some B44 hexes without saying anything

I really like the look of the new BJ4 wheels, but you must of spent some time cleaning between the spokes today :wtf:

Yeah just a bit! I was expecting them to clog up but they actually let clumps of grass out that would have jammed the wheel with a B4 wheel :)

Jconcepts Rulux front wheels on a 501x is another story.
Hex stripping was apparent for me, so I went back to the 501x/durga
stock rims. I never had this problem getting the rulux to fit the B44 though.
And the B44 hexes will not fit on the 501x axels either. :/

As the locking nuts are barely hangng on at the nylon end, is it in my best interest to pick up the front stub axles for the B44 too?

Are the threads on the B44 stub axles longer?

Elliott.

But then it doesn't matter. It looks like AE have gone all Tamiya with their CVDs. The cups of the CVDs are on the axles rather than the shafts.

:-(

I had no idea of this either. I assumed that the B44 and the BJ4WE offsets were identical but got a little curious since the Rulux did not state that it will fit the BJ4WE on their page. I guess getting the B44 hex will fix this according to some of the posts...
