Avid CF Rear Hub Towers/AE C Tower
 
I broke a ball stud in my B4.1 FT stock plastic A hub tower, which left the shaft in the hole I use, that I can't extract with out killing the part.

Rather than buy another one, and maybe it happen again, I ordered the Avid CF rear Hub tower set (AV1013), which arrived this morning:

It looks a good quality product, and features A and C holes. A-holes (huh huh), match up to what I want to use, but I've seen that quite a few of the pros are using C holes on their setups. Now i understand the C holes are lower, but from a forum post I googled, you also need to cut down the rear U brace to use them correctly, and the info on how to cut them comes with the team AE graphite C tower set:

So my question is, when to use the C holes, and what U brace mods to I need to do? Has anyone had success or failure with this setup?

From my understanding the lower ball-stud on the hub and u-brace is supposed to generate more traction on the rear. This would be when used on the B4.1.

I've yet to try them, but it looks like running these on the 0.5 / 1.0 alu hubs it will allow you on the C4.1 to run the hubs the right way around, so adding rear toe-in, useful for low traction situations. It will also allow you to run the hubs reversed (left on right - right on left) to reduce the rear toe-in.

Yes, the C hubtower gives you more traction and some say it make the car more stable..

I'v ordered a pair since I run on a sand/dirt track I can use some more rear traction :D

Sounds like I want that then. So what/how much do I need to dremel on the Rear U-Brace? Instructions come with the AE C towers. Anyone got a copy/scan of them?

Just shave where the holes are down to the height of the rest of the U brace

Yep,

Just shave the brace down so there is no raised section, where the ball stud goes into.

The very original u-braces were flat. The the stock set-up became two washers under the ball stud. So they raised up the u-brace by two washers, this was a running change.
