hi there,iv asked a few people and they dont know but what does the X mean in WRX(subaru) :confused:the W means world the R means rally,the only thing it could mean is cross,but it doesnt seem right WORLD RALLY CROSS,

World Rally Xtreme
World Rally eXperiment

Or X just meaning 4/AWD

WRX is shrot for World Rally Cross. The model of which this car takes the name WRX is the one and only Impreza. The makers of the Impreza goes by the name of Subaru.
A few subaru acronyms

WRX - World Rally Cross
STi - Subaru Tecnica Internacional
RA - Racing group A (pretty much means lightweight)
DCCD - drive controlled center differential
AVCS - Active valve control system

Remember, Subaru is Japanese, and so the translation may be Engrish. :lol:

It's like the Rumour about the Evo FQ Range (Allegedly stands for F***ing Quick)

There is no other official line, The FQ was a UK only version but the japs actially think it stands for fine quality :thumbdown:

WRX stands for world rally cross, its just like MX stands for motorcross... something to do with the X looking or meaning cross... because it crosses.... i believe lol

A bit like BMX: Bicycle Motor Cross, you'd be amazed at the amount of people who don't know what it stood for.

if it were world rally cross,why is the chapionship the wrc (WORLD RALLY CHAPIONSHIP)and not wrxc WORLD RALLY CROSS CHAMPIONSHIP,THATS WHY I CANT UNDERSTAND THE X,i have to agree with CAClark,

World Rally eXperimental is the correct term from Subaru and not world rallycross
Same as NSX was new sports Experimental and CRX Civic Renaissance Experimental
