Cool, my mates own Wicked Coatings and I've seen what they can do, takes them minutes for something it would take me a week or more to airbrush, most of it impossible to airbrush actually.

Looking sweet Dave! Good stuff- we occasionally use a similar process on some of the game pads we design.
Do you reckon a body-shell is possible and would you coat the inside or the outside?

First thought was WOW I want a set, But think it needs some sort of rotating carbon effect, Some how doesn't look right straight lines on a wheel. Stunning effect though.

I think it could be done inside as long as no air is trapped

yeah the actual dip is over in seconds.
The prep/base colour/masking/laquer is a somewhat longer process though.
The wheels in the photos took 2 full days of labour to prep..then half a day to laquer then 3 hours in the oven then 2 hrs to mop!:)

That is the one thing i always pick up on....Maybe they will develop a film that consists of ever decreasing circles in the future specifically for wheels,That said ,they look mega on the car with tyres on.

GRIFF55 14-05-2012 09:24 PM

So it's a normal 2pack base colour paint then dipped in whatever magic juice, the lacquered in?

Belsten 14-05-2012 09:35 PM

sort of ;)
Good work Dave :wub

Fresh cured waterbase or cellie(no 2k or old hard paint)...specific temp water in tank, film laid on water for specefic time to soak, activator applied wait specific time..Then dip at correct angle expelling air and dont forget to manipulate the job to keep contact with film..
After the first 6 mths of starting this my failure rate was 99% Got so pissed off i walked away from it for 6mths!
I had my own garage for 12yrs with paint shop, its the dipping process thats hard to get right consistantly...If it fails then start again..and again..:woot:

Some samples and audi s line interior

eddscott 18-06-2012 04:06 PM

Wow!

Can I ask how much the SLine interior would be? For an Audi A4 B7 SLine?

Looks far better than the carbon wrap I was going to do!
