X4 rear gearbox

My original X4 which started out as a SC Truck kit has a tilted down rear gearbox if that makes sense ? The drive shaft is tilted down into it at entry.

I have a new one which is straight entry, assuming they were revised for some reason, anyone know why ?? Is there a problem running the tilted one ??

The original angled gearbox was more prone to shredding gears. The new flat entry one was designed to stop this and also the transmission runs freely.
