trouble with team C geared diff's
 

Has anyone else had a problem with the metal geared diff's from Team C stripping teeth?
Bought a set about 2 months ago and during the regional on sunday, my X4 started to get extremely noisy. when I got home stripped it down and the front one has stripped 5 or 6 teeth.
Not impressed!!
Waiting to see if they respond to my e-mail.

almost always at front they fail.. think because of hard braking on high grip tracks.
shim it as tight as posible with out binding.
they wil come with a update i think as they always do with a problem:thumbsup:

i run the geard diffs in my x4 pro and have done the odd teeth, the reason why this happens is the fact i meshed the diffs to loose since i have redone them i have never had a problem. in the course of racing you will brake parts,

As geared diffs provide no slip any jolts are forced onto the teeth. You may need to run the slipper a bit looser than normal to try and regain some slip.

I was just disappointed this happening so soon what with the cost etc, do team c do a 'rebuild' kit as such as I cant see anywhere to buy the parts seperately and dont want to buy a whole new gear set unless really neccessary

I'm running the ball diffs in my x4te, did the gear diffs improve performance?

gear mesh to loose

I have experianced this with my savage and it usually due to braking hard or braking str8 after a jump when all the weight is still on the front wheels.
like everyone else has said, mesh it quite tightly and loosen the slipper off. at least you'll know which car is yours, as it will sound like a bag of bolts :woot::lol:

What oils are people running in these diffs

When you have problems with the front gears its always the slipper. This also happens with the standard plastic (ball diffs).

As mentioned gear diffs DON'T slip so you need to have the slipper perfect to protect the drive train.

i will be at bury this sunday if you would like to have a look at the geared diffs, the advantage of the geard diffs is it makes the car reliable,

i run 50,000 in the front of mine and 30,000 in the rear this for me is a perfect balance, you will have to run heavyer oils than durango as the team c diffs only have 2 planetry gears. also run some black grease on the external crown and pinion to reduce heat noise and friction.
