Very little grip

Hi everyone I was wonder if you all could help????

I just started getting into nitro buggy racing & having great fun doing so but there is a down side which is I'm finding it hard to get any grip as the rear of my hobao hyper 7pro uk is like driving on ice it wants to slide out on more or less every corner as the track is a dry dusty dirt track
So the question is can any body suggest what tyres & inserts to use

Thank you in advance - Colin

Depends on the track but usually pro line crime fighters are a reasonable tyre to start off with in the m2 or m3 but there are so many different brands for tyres now I'm sure you will be in undated with others to try. Be warned though - most first tyres don't last long!

It's also worth changing out the grease in the diffs for proper diff oil if you haven't already, I used to run 3f-5m-3r in my hyper and that will help

Already done the diffs & I'm running 7000 front 10,000 centre & 2000 rear

too heavy in the diffs if your a beginner, the 10k in the center will make the car fishtail too easy for you,try 7-5-2 or 5-5-2 if you need a little more steering getting into the corners.

since you say its dusty i would try some AKA ibeams or AKA crossbrace in soft/super soft depending on how your car is setup.

softer suspension will also give you a little more grip when its dusty.and a little more rear toe in.

and be smooth on the throttle,if you just crack open the throttle it will get sideways quickly.

car setup

I take it its a readyto run

no problem 5k front 7k centre 3k back works well. You should also take a look at your shocks when i had one i drilled the pistions with 1.5mm drill just one hole and ran 30-35wt oil, id use cml fastrax if you go to other makes including associated losi ultimate the oil numbers are a liitle out so you will need to compensate

also run longest link on the back camber position, ie furthest out on the hub and furthest in and down on the tower. This works best in most cases, however if you plan on running in dirt say slough or somewhere you may need to adjust the rear hub position one in to allow the car to rotate more in the bends. ride height start with flat wishbones or if you can measure it cml centro do a nice ride height gauge 25-27mm flat or may be higher at the back.

Roll bars are critical dont over tighten them especially when running on dirt run them 1/2 to a full turn back off grub screw pinch.. You aint going to grip roll on loose dirt :)

car length, long car adjusted from the back gives more front initial steer response. shorter wheel base gives better tracktion and mid corner steering. use this to adjust balance, along with ride height and droop settings....
