Shock rebound
 
Hi chaps,

Can anyone tell me when rebound should or should not be used and more importantly how to achieve it with Schumacher big bore shocks?

I only seem to be able to get pretty much maximum rebound.*

Is there a trick I am missing?

When you assemble to he shock, the amount of shock shaft protruding when you fit the bladder and shock top will affect rebound. I have been screwing top on with the shaft half way in.

As for when and how, I don't know.

i fill shock up with oil, shaft fully extended put bladder ontop push shaft all way up till touches bladder the pull shaft down with finger in bladder to stop it clapsing in when u pull down. screw on top half way pust shaft all way to top the tighten fully should get alittle oil/air out top ( this does sound abit homo erotic talking about shafts :thumbsup:)

most of the team drivers cut the bladers out . it makes filling the shocks equal a lot les work and helps the handeling of the car aswell .

Cutting a hole in the bladder. What difference does it make, making them into an emulsion shock?

It's what we used to do on the small more shocks on the Cat SX for sure. I don't know if it's what they are doing these days with the BB's.

I have tired with the BB and the oil pips out of the vent hole in upper cap..!?! So I am back with bladers

never had a problem with leaking . it all depends on how U cut them .
it afects the car in bether landings on jumps and helps the car on bumpy tracks aswell as makes it more consistant true out the run .

just cut a 6 or 7mm hole in middle of the bladder ;-)

hey ulrich . hope you are well and the family aswell lol.
i leave a small upstanding ridge standing so you can see that it has been cut . if U cut them compleetly flat so it looks realy like an O rong they intend to leak yes . meening U did a great job and it looks realy nice and neat but it dousent works . it needs to look a bit like u did it in a ruch so it looks inproper . would post pics but for one or the other reazon it dousent works . sorry . greets

All you need to do to convert to emulsion shock setup is cut out the center of the bladder so it looks like an o-ring. If you leave a piece of the center in you will have inconsistent shock action, i.e. the oil will squirt through the bladder hole, it needs to be cut like an o-ring to work properly, and if it leaks...you basically screwed it up. Here is a great video from a TLR driver, Mike Truhe, demonstrating how to do this...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWBAKC-c1s4

The whole method is the same on the Shumacher BB shocks, only ours are prettier ;). I personally think that the emulsion shocks are a bit more consistent but there may be situations where bladders may work better. Drive the car with both setups and see what YOU are more consistent with on your home track.

Thanks.. I will try again.. will also say the o-ring look more right. Are you using the same oil or change it 2.5 or 5wt higher or lower when using cut bladder?

I don't think you have to lighten up the oil. Best thing to do is try and see what's best.

Just cut the bladder out and build as normal. I wouldn't change oil straight away or you wont be able tell how it affects your car doing the mod.
