I'll see if he knows the colour rating of the sprigs as Lee uses Yellow front and Red rear on 511 unless anyone wants to update the list to show these.....

X gear spings

I ran my 502x on wet grass/astro at the weekend with red front and white rear. Standard pistons with 35cwt oil front, 30cwt rear. It was absolutely awesome. Now invested in more springs.

Very intresting, thanks a lot for sharing!
What's the advantage of these springs VS the Tamiya one?
I heard about them more than one time but don't know much about them.
Bye
WWD
:)

Lee Martin 25-04-2012 09:41 AM

Slightly bigger diameter spring which does not rub on the shock body.
Also has a better coil for more consistent action.

I like them ;)

i use the larger sized 201 spring retainer on the bottom

Also, the Losi 22 spring retainers are a perfect fit.

This is great info !

Do we know if anyone will be stocking them in the UK ?

I see JESpares Stock the X-Gear Springs for the Kyosho Big Bore Shocks !

tyreman 25-04-2012 06:01 PM

The price isn't too bad either at £7.65 a pair.

Those are the springs we are talking about. It's Kyosho that make the X Gear springs.

£12 a pair tho.....:(

Lee Martin 26-04-2012 08:02 AM

I dont use the Big bore version.

Oh right? Didn't realise there were other versions. Where are they available from Lee?

Any Kyosho dealer, try JE Spares & Inside Line (although I don't think either list on their sites but Kyosho UK do a fantastic job of dealing with spot orders)

jaythewarrior 27-04-2012 12:33 PM

So these springs fit the TRF shocks i assume? and if so where can i buy a set from please and how much? cheers.

MHeadling 27-04-2012 12:40 PM

Rc Champ as per the first post, 1008 yen

Their website is all Japanese but send them an e-mail and they are very helpful and have good english too.

Dont think anyone brings them into the UK, LMR should I reckon!

Martin Wallace 27-05-2012 02:47 PM

big thanks to champ international, emails back and forth etc with great communication, 80 quid all in for postage paypal fees and springs.

only took 2 days to get here, amazing from japan.

MHeadling 27-05-2012 02:59 PM

£80! Wow! Let's hope they are good!

Iv gone to losi bb springs using ae rod ends and traxxas spring retainers, £3 a pair :)

Report back on your findings dude

James 31-05-2012 02:59 PM

They told me they didn't have complete ranges in stock yet. I'd still like a set, can anyone point me in the right direction!?

mikeyscott 06-06-2012 05:11 PM

Do these X-Gear springs fit the standard Kyosho shocks too?

stevenich 16-08-2012 03:13 PM

X-Gear springs

I noticed Lee mentioned he does NOT use the BB springs on his 201. The XSB parts #'s appear to be for BB springs only. The standard RB5 regular bore springs are not black with a color ID mark. The entire spring is yellow or red.
I assume this is what Lee is using.

tomtom 16-08-2012 05:40 PM

He uses XGear spings for small bores shocks

DaveG28 16-08-2012 11:49 PM

I don't think he uses x-gear springs at all on the 201 right now ;)

From memory, think he still uses them on the 4wd.

I think XSB in the part number stands for small bore, try this page:

http://translate.google.co.uk/transl...24%26bih%3D672

Those springs are black with coloured bands. However, not sure what they have in stock.

Yep, showing he had Tamiya springs on!

stevenich 17-08-2012 05:43 PM

Springs

Ah Ha!! Looking at his setup sheets over the years it looks like he has tried everything:)

stevenich 04-09-2012 03:53 PM

No one in Japan seems to work. I have e-mailed X-gear, Champ RC and Banzai about ordering springs. This has been going on for 3 weeks. Amazing.

discothesnake 04-09-2012 04:28 PM

I would just order the BB's from JE Models. Less hassle and you don't really save money ordering from Japan.

The BB's are great springs but I find the Orange (super hard) are not quite hard enough. Would like it if there was a harder storing again.

Dave

tomtom 04-09-2012 06:05 PM

Same for me about orange front springs.

I may find a better front but Losi Blue were way better on my car (DB1).

RogerM 05-09-2012 11:37 AM

Crickey on a bikey .... the stiffest Losi front spring I run on Kyosho RB5 based 2wd is Orange ... one off the softest and that was with under servo weights and all sorts!!!

The Losi front springs range is MUCH MUCH MUCH heavier than the Kyosho / X-gear spring range! I know the DB1 has massive amounts of steering but WOW, would never have thought you'd be there with the springs!
