York club this Saturday 12th April
Can anyone let me know if we have a club meeting this Saturday at York ?
|
Hi zedman,
just looked on the site and seen it is a possible vintage night, but i assume there would be still normal heats running. http://www.yorcc.org.uk/ APRIL 5 No Meeting 12 Possible Vintage Night, round 5 * 19 Championship night, 2 wd round 6 * 26 Championship night, 4 wd round 6 * Hope this helps, Hows the X11 mate did you enjoy the first run ? Garry |
Yup, the club will run as normal. :)
See you there! |
Thanks guys

Whats the rules for new people wanting to have a go ?
Whats the rules for new people wanting to have a go ?, I have a friend at work who would like a go at racing before taking the plunge, would he be able to race once in my spare 2wd buggy without joining the BRCA and the club ?
|
Your ok to race for 3 meetings then you have to join as either a club member (which includes brca membership) or just a brca membership.
|
I've got a mate coming to try racing for the first time too this weekend.
Is it defo a vintage night as I hadn't realised but would be well glad if it is! |
It is vintage but Stu, Damo and myself (this years champ :thumbsup:) will not be there, we'll be at Kev's wedding :p

What exactly is a vintage night ?
What exactly is a vintage night ? and will it still be normal racing as well ?
|
Normal racing will carry on as usual just like any other meeting with 2wd and 4wd but with a seperate heat for cars from the early 90's or older
|
Vintage and no Northy et al
Are you running vintage Dan, if not I might have a chance of winning :woot: |
Urm, not sure if it's worth it if there is only a couple of us. I might run normal class and run the vintage in a couple of rounds or something? I might bring 2 race and 2 vintage and see what happens on the night :)
|
Dan
Dan what class is your friend racing, 2wd ?, I'm lending my work mate my stock Bandit, be fun for him to have another noob to race against, be warned though he consitsantly kicks my ass at computer game online driving )

There's usually a few doing vintage, haven't we had two heats before? Hopefully there will be enough of us for one heat. Suppose I'll bring the b4 just in case, although it will still be covered in mud ;) |
Kennard (my mate), is lucky enough to have my old B4. It's relativly well kitted out actually though the diff is a bit rough and the servo is SLOW.
Plenty good enough for a first nights racing! |
Don't forget guys - track building from 5:30, booking in shortly after and I'll try to run the computer so racing should be starting 6:30/6:45 so we can try to get 4 rounds and a final in. Turn up late and you'll not be racing!!

4 rounds and a final??? 4 ??? |
Well, more likely 3 rounds and 2 leg finals, but we really need to kick it's arse if it's a busy night to get that much racing in
|
My opinion is that we should start say an hour earlier then we wouldnt be all so late home and we could maybe get more racing in?
|
Not realy do-able, lil Ben. We have the hall from 5:30, so what we need is more people turning up that early andlending a hand with whatever needs doing to get racing started earlier.
In theory there is no reason why booking in shouldn't close at 6:00/6:15 and racing start at 6:30 on the dot giving 4 full hours of racing, but in practice there are never enough bodies helping and people turn up late that hold things up. |

like col says, its the setting up that slows us down,i see alot of people sitting at there pit table twiddlin there thumbs when they could be helping to build the track, i know its a daunting task to some about building a track but those who do build it learnt off the more experienced guys, so we all had to start some where, the general rule now is to get those extra races in is to put computer on timer which im sure col will implememt tonight????, im not there myself so you wont hear my voice over the speakers:p, but please york memebers lets all get stuck in layin and tidyin up afterwards then (ben) your night wont be as long
thanks darryl |
I agree, it would a lot easier if people were there early. but it is a bit unfair telling them they cannot race just because we started earlier than normal. Why not tell everyone ,when they book in tonight, that you want them there for 5.30 next week as booking in will close at 6-6.15, and announce it on the mic at times during the night because that way people have non excuses and everybody will pass that info on etc.
|
i come up from hull, which is an hours drive:woot:so always get there to asist in getting track out/setting up:)must admit i shoot off stright after racing:pbut i do get stuck in as i have stated before hand:pany how looking forward to tonight:thumbsup:who else is racing mod 2wd:confused:
|
ohhh sorry col i didnt know we had the hall from a certain time. So if ya want then col. Ill set the computer up when i get their. If you dont mind booking people in. If we limit practice to 15 minute then that will save some time................. please can we think about having an outdoor track lol. Would be much easier .

|

|
Ben, who is bringing the trailer tonight?
|
erm. Im not sure because mike cockerill is the only one who has the rotor. I definatley agree with you their col. I think the first time i ran it we finished earlier and still had 2 legged finals.
The rotor could maybe be put on the website? |
Didn't realise there was a rota!
|
Yeh it just has who's running the computer and who is bringing and taking the trailor. :)
|
guys.. could u give me the school address please
cheer |
is this the correct address as i just found it
huntington school huntington road YO32 9WT |
Col, the point i was trying to make is that hardly anyone gets there at 5.30, people turn up between 6 and 7 which is too late! People need to be told to get there earlier otherwise we won't get as much racing in and it will always stay the same few people setting up the track each week! and also the earlier we finish, the more of us will stay to help pack away at the end. Like ben said if practice is shorter then this will also give us more time.
Yeah, that is the correct adress i think |
i will pop down and give ya a hand when i get there at least i can help
|
The risk is that in trying to get more racing in, this ends up being more racing for the few and less for the many, as some people won't be able to make an earlier start - certainly without advance warning. Scrapping practice alltogther if there is an extra round could help.
Once the outdoor season & regionals etc have kicked in fully there'll be less people anyway so an extra round is easy then. |
