Looking forward to this one, just hoping it's not too windy and wet!!

Don't suppose there are any up to date photo's of the off road track after our visit earlier in the year?

Also whats the plan for the day with times for gates opening and starting racing?

I think you should technically apply before you turn up to race, unless you are going to get Colchester MCC to get it for you.

Is there a rostrum for the off road track now?

I was considering bringing a platform of some kind if not, I crash enough when I can see a buggy, let alone when I can't see it:blush:

There has to be a rostrum!

There is a rostrum you can see it from the A12 its not very big so will be cosy:lol:

I would hope you'd be able to see two rostrums from the A12. One will be for the touring car track, the other for the off road track. Unless of course they have moved the off road track away from the hedge and back to where it was previously

Sorry yep there ar two and the track is still near the hedge and the touring has its own rostrum.

All, Just a few pointers prior to Sunday....

For those of you who havent visited CMCC before the postcode for the SatNav is CO5 9EZ - We are located just off Easthorpe Road.

Gates will be open @ 8:30am. Please drive carefully down the lane as it is a little bumpy.

Noticed some discussion above about the rostrum. We have a rostrum which is enough space for 10 Drivers, so all should be fine!

The club no longer has handout transponders so all drivers will need PT's. For anyone who hasnt got one, We have a small number of Club PT's which will be available for Hire on a first come first served basis. These are available from Race Control. We will also have MRT PTx's For sale.

If anyone has any other questions, Please post below. Untill then.... Lets keep our fingers crossed for some April sunshine. :cool:

Is the track similar to last year?

The track is in a different location to last year. When I went to the shakedown meeting at the start of the year I would say the track was a little smaller and bumpier, it also had a cross over, double and table top corner.
No idea if anything has changed since, although I know there were plans to smooth it out a little and do some updates.

Tires are a tricky one, the safe bet would be

Dry: Schmacher Yellow Mini Spikes, if you want less steering you could try a stagger rib on the front also in yellow.

Wet: Ballistic Buggy Spikes in Green on the rear and Schumacher Green mini spikes on the front.


I'm also liking the Dboots Multibyte at the moment which seems to work well on most surfaces in most conditions from dry dusty grass to soaking astro. Although from memory I don't think they were as good as a ballistic green on wet grass.

Thanks for the tips. That's what I was thinking pretty much. I find the multibytes don't have the side bite on grass, but when the track is torn up they perform better, possibly, than schumachers. Probably start with ballistics, then see what the weather and 50+ cars do to the track :o

The jumps astro/carpet covered I take it?

The jumps were all dirt when I went. I think they had plans to do something with them.

I reckon you should try a wider and higher profile foam in the Dboots if you are suffering with sidebite ;) Mr 'O' Racing make some great ones :thumbsup:


If it's wet I'd start with Ballisitics, if it's dry start with Schumacher Mini Spikes in Yellow compound. Ballistics in the dry dont give much grip as the spikes move about too much in my opinion and the flatter profile gives little sidebite.

is proper tight. will need to keep up strict diet and forget that extra fry up for breakfast. will hold 8 but 10 will be proper queeze. were spoilt at broughton with their proper installation.:thumbsup:

sounds to me like rule 15.32 will be a good one to remember.

Drivers can choose their position on the rostrum, based on their qualifying positions.

Some additional info....

Gates will be open from 8am if anyone wants to be there really early but it will be closed track. No practice will be allowed.

We are aiming for Drivers Breifing at around 9:30am, With the first heat starting at 9:45am.

As I mentioned before, there will be plenty of room on the Rostrum. The track has not changed much since the shakedown meeting. We have made some minor changes this evening and will be working on the track on Saturday prior to the meeting on Sunday...

Believe so, we ran a no practice policy at coastal to minimise the deteriation of the track in the conditions before the racing commenced, and so that the meeting could start quicker, and so that there is no fighting for space on the rostrum. Same for everyone then.

So has the track had a heavy roll since the warmup meeting?

Shame there won't be any practice, lets hope I put that diff in the right way round!!!

I can understand wanting to get going though and then hopefully avoid the heavy showers.

Shame about the practice, but with the ammount of cars and with 6 rounds of racing, a good idea. 3 mins of heat order practice would be nice, with a quick changeover, it wouldn't take long.

Has anyone got any concerns (other than me) about the crossover T-bone possibilities? We run one at MERCC and it has a mesh bridge section, so quite safe really.

There was talk about the cross over when we visited earlier in the year and the club were going to do something about the take off ramp I think.

Not just me, phew! Looks a fun track, bet we all want to beat the weather and get on with it asap, then home for the F1 on sky HD :thumbsup:or BBC for the peasants:lol:

I must say having driven the track I'm not sold on the cross over for more than one reason.

The jump on the cross over was more like a plummit, there was no concave to give you lift last time, just a 45 deg. take off right on a corner. They may have shaped it better now but it looks the same in the photo.
