Regional Round 2 Boughton Raceway

With only two weeks to go now I thought I would post some info regarding camping etc.

As some of you know, we have masses of camping area for those who wish to arrive on the sunday. Im guessing some of the southend crew may wish to camp as it is a good two hour journey for them.
Unfortunately we do not have power or running water on site. Therefore please bring your own generators/power and water. There is a garage just up the road with a small spar shop for any supplies.

If you could let me know if you intend to camp we can arrange a few things. If there is enough interest I wil organise a BBQ for sunday night, and a few beers.

Camping will be available from 1:30 sunday afternoon, however the gates will be locked at 9:30 and opened again monday morning. If you plan to arrive after 9:30 let me know and I'll open the gate when you arrive.

Again, if you could just let me know as If no one plans to camp I'll stay at home Sunday night in bed!

Thanks, and see you all in two weeks:thumbsup:

Barry.

What time are gates opened monday morning?

Benh 02-04-2012 06:25 PM

Quick count up and there's 34 entries spread over 24 peeps so far....

rcmodelweek 02-04-2012 07:02 PM

Gates will open by 8:30 Monday morning.

Juttie 02-04-2012 08:10 PM

Nice to see the numbers climbing lets hope for some good weather.

Chesty 02-04-2012 08:32 PM

What time does the actual meeting start?

Is it basically open practice from open time until the meeting starts or is there some kind of controlled practice?

rcmodelweek 02-04-2012 09:26 PM

Hoping to start the meeting for around 9:30. I'm thinking of holding 1 round of timed practice then into 3 rounds of qualifying followed with three leg finals.

Camera never lies. I am sure the opening sequence of "the trailer" shows uncontrolled practice. A Durango piloted by a drunken/stoned Adam West.

Dufty07 02-04-2012 10:27 PM

they say the camera adds 10 pounds.....so maybe thats the problem:D

I like the idea of timed practice saves having the mad bundle onto the rostrum or 20 cars going round the track at the same time

rcmodelweek 03-04-2012 12:20 PM

That's the idea. I plan to hold one round of timed practice in heat order, that way we get to double check the timing gear is picking everyone up. Don't worry about space on the rostrum though, you can get about 30 people on it! :woot:

Carl - I reckon it had more to do with the 'green' fumes coming up from the marshall under the rostrum:woot: Now who was that...

Although saying that, I generally can't play pool or darts until I've had a few beers so maybe could be onto something there:thumbsup:

Dufty07 04-04-2012 11:43 AM

team green racin

with the darkside, you need the force.....and usually the force is strong with me:D:D:drool:

rcmodelweek 05-04-2012 08:29 PM

Ok, here's the timetable for Monday. Gates open at 8:30, booking in from 9:00-9:45. Timed practice 10:00-10:45. Round 1 10:50.
Hopefully the weather will be kind, the forecast I have just seen shows Monday as being the best day of the weekend with sunny spells expected.
Please refrain from wheelspining, donuting or handbrake turning when driving in the field, the land owner does not appreciate it.
Looking forward to seeing everyone Monday.
Barry.

I can't see that happening.

Weather forecast has changed everyday this week for the bank holiday weekend and I would expect it to change again before Monday comes round!!

Chesty 06-04-2012 07:21 PM

 Forecast doesn't look good on Met Office & BBC right now. Fingers crossed they've got it wrong...

On & off showers I can cope with but persistent heavy rain as forecast I won't travel for:thumbdown:

rcmodelweek 06-04-2012 08:49 PM

The forecast appears to be changing every hour! When I checked yesterday evening it was for sunny spells, then an hour later it showed rain! I'm doing an anti-rain dance right now!

Neilosarnold 06-04-2012 09:08 PM

Rain?

Hello all.
Have i missed something. Worrying about rain.......
If you cant cope with a bit of rain then race indoors only. :eh?:

Benh 06-04-2012 11:17 PM

The latest weather statement:
Partly Winton showers and Clary spells, with occasional breaks of manliness. Should be racing, but with Nortonly wind, will actually feel a bit girly at times. Strong winds with gusts strong enough to remove previously well anchored moorings in the nether regions. Wrap up warm if spending time outside and most importantly grow some.

Dazza B 07-04-2012 08:03 AM

How sad !! So did I before reading your post Jay... lol
Nice to see the banter has started nice and early :)
If people are worried about the weather then have a nice cosy easter Monday indoors with the wife and kids, that way even though I am last I may get a few more points..

jcb 07-04-2012 09:40 AM

Weather forecast is different for Monday now than it was this time yesterday, I think it's playing a waiting game and see what happens on the day!!! Hopefully as it's rained a lot yesterday and this morning here it will all pass before racing starts.

racingdwarf 07-04-2012 07:18 PM

well the forcast for monday is real nasty at the min, heavy and prolonged rain! It's an astro track, but if we get standing water or if it looks like my ko is going to get a soaking:o.I'm off home.

wait and see monday morning I guess:confused:

spindles69 07-04-2012 08:18 PM

crap weather

I will go along with as much blaggarding as the next man:thumbsup:.With the( don't be a woose it's only a bit of water). But with running 3 cars replacing 3 speedo's when they go bang is not good:thumbdown:.Yes you can get the blu tak out but its not fun running in the rain:(.So i'm afraid if it is constant rain for monday then yes i will have to put the dress on and be a girl for the day.(or longer if i like it:D)

Dufty07 08-04-2012 03:33 AM

WET

Am thinking maybe putting my brushed stuff back in for the day. bring on d rain:D

jcb 08-04-2012 10:43 AM

Looks like typical bank holiday weather to me, so far this weekend it hasn't done anything that has been forecast and the weather people keep changing their minds too.

With the dodgy forecast and racers running in multiple classes I can't help but feel it may be worth while trying to start closer to ten than eleven, just to give time for car cleaning, puddle sweeping and perhaps avoiding the worst of the heavy showers should they occur. Just my thoughts mind you.

Benh 08-04-2012 03:04 PM

The good news is that everyone who had registered and booked in, have been entered into the system and the heat listings are done: therefore the booking in process (as long as the details provided were correct) should be an absolute doddle. Should be a case of deleting the no-showers (no pun intended) and cracking on.

Choice for me tonight is set up changes, or weather proofing. I'm banking on the weather proofing and pinning my hopes that everyone else puts set up changes top of their list. <insert evil emoticon>

PS: - Jay and Daren - Your messages made my day

Dufty07 08-04-2012 05:26 PM

rcmodelweek 08-04-2012 06:25 PM

Everything is ready to go tomorrow, we are so optimistic that the rain will miss us that we are still going ahead with a bbq, so you will be able to get a proper hotdog made from fresh butchers sausages! You might need one to keep warm!

Juttie 08-04-2012 06:33 PM

Have to say, I'm loving your optimism! Maybe we should all wear shorts and t-shirts and all do an anti-rain dance track side first thing!
All I know is, I stocked up on blue tac and gaffa tape today!

jcb 09-04-2012 04:53 PM

Thanks to all at Boughton for a top day out despite the damp weather.

Was good to catch up with everyone and see some new faces to.

wrighty 09-04-2012 05:37 PM

Yep cheers some good racing despite the conditions

Dazza B 09-04-2012 05:42 PM

Another wicked days racing despite the constant rain, well hosted by Barry and organised by Tom.
Epic Fail of the day goes to Lee "zipper" Flynn who remembered to bring everything except his cars... then had a 2 hour round trip to get them.

Juttie 09-04-2012 06:02 PM

Would like to take this chance to thank everyone who came and braved the weather was good to see some racing on the track. we are just glad track held up in these tricky conditions bring on round 3.
